Who Carries Full-Size Fat Guns?

Who carries a full size fat gun, i.e. Beretta, USP, Glock, etc.?
As much as I love my Beretta, being closer to my CCW has made me rethink it as my primary 'shoot the heck out of it at every competitive venue possible' gun, as I Should concentrate on a gun that will end up carrying.
Who carries a full size fat gun, and do any little people here do it?

It seems that I am heading in that direction. I pretty much carry a 4506 daily, and am now going to a full size 1911 shortly. For me it is getting the proper leather, not the weight. It is comforting.
The 4506 is my duty gun- carrying it the majority of the time is more efficient for me in the manual of arms, training, and ammo department.

Skunkabilly,
I'm 5'6" and well, stout... Hand size for gloves is small. Depending upon the job, I carry a GLOCK 21 or a GLOCK 30. Supposedly those are for people with large hands... Guess I didn't know that when I tried 'em, liked 'em, and bought 'em. Guess it doesn't matter that I shoot 4" groups at 25yards either. Yeah, that's not great, but shucks, they're only for use until I can reach my Benelli M1014 or my Armalite... As to concealability, about the same as the Kimber Pro-Carry's that I used to use... I'm happy with 'em, and can't think of changing to something "small." No way.

Skunky I qualify as a enonomy pack person or otherwise known as one of them cornfed midwest farm boys , (6'4" , 250 LB , size 52 jacket ) so carying a fullsized para 14-45, is no problem , heck you probably do Idpa from behind my leg and no one would see you ..:D

Looks like you're rationalizing the pick up of either a USPc 9 & or the P2000....BOTH, you need BOTH! ;)

I'm with jeeper, I carry a Para P-14 most of the time. In the winter I often carry a 4" tube N-Frame smith revolver.
With just a little bit of attention to a good belt and holster, and clothing, almost any gun can be carried comfortably.
Haven't tried my DE yet, but may get a shoulder rig for it.

About 6' 175 #, yeah people hate me, I eat and don't gain.
Prefer full size 5" 1911 IWB
Have carried two (one as BUG)
Have used 4" model 19 with a 3 " model 64
Variety of K frames (with /w/o Bug)
BHP's
Holster, belt is the key...attitude, mindset, dress around gun. Most people don't notice...those that are paying attn, probably CCW also...its a fun game.
I choose platform and loads best for me...shooting wise. Then I use good gear to use. Comforting-not comfortable,(Cooper)

Being the yella bellied coward I am, I don't carry a fat one, but I do carry a full size 1911.

I am not small by any sense of the word but I can say that when I carry my glock the width doesn't bother me a bit. Jeans and a t-shirt hide it just fine and that is often with a cheap uncle mike's holster.

A full sized USP (V.2 thank you very much :D ) rides on my hip most days when I'm out in public. While I'm more along the lines of a Coonan (except for the height :( ) than a Skunk, I've never (to my knowledge) been noticed by anyone who said anything (lots of soccer mommies around here).

Me, Jeeper and Bob R! Para Ordnance P-14 (Sometimes a P-16). Both are big, fat guns. Guess I could be classified that way too! A good IWB (Milt Sparks Summer Special) and it can easily be hidden with a cover garment. Kimber compact for warmer weather.

Glock 17, 34, 1911, BHP, yep I qualify. 6'1" 210 . A good holster that gets the butt up high and in tight to the body is essential. On thinner people a FBI cant holster can work to eliminate the butt printing in the back of the shirt. Occasionally I carry a 1911 or BHP SOB also, guess I'll try not to fall on it :) Thin people have carry options that bulged at the waist people dont, due to the nice cavity created by shoulder/chest overhang. Don't get a teeny little wuss gun just because it's easy.

I carry a XD-40 and I'm not that big. With the right holster and clothes, I've forgotten I'm wearing it.

I've carried my Glock 17 for the past 15 years in an IWB holster. Living in Florida, it is generally covered only by an untucked T-shirt. During the cooler months, I carry it in a belt holster covered by an oversized shirt or denim jacket.

I'm a big old beast myself('6 "2, 500 lbs) and I carry a P14 stainless Limited every day. I dont even notice it anymore. I have a very nice custom-made shoulder rig, but seem to prefer "Mexican" carry for my pistol.

Glock 17, 1911 Govt. Model or S&W581 (4") during colder months. Kahr K40/P9 or Glock 26/30 during warmer months. Large magazines and/or large calibers are good shoudl the gun be used for intended purpose. S&W581 is carried because I shoot it well, despite capacity limitation.
If concealment wasn't an issue, I'd carry the same Glock 17 or 1911.

My main carry is a Colt Combat Commander, but I have been known to, on occassion, carry my Glock M20 10mm. Usually during the heavy winter months (Dec.-Jan.) under a bulky jacket in a Fobus paddle. If there is a fullsize FAT gun, then the Glock M20 is it!

Right now, I carry a Walther P99.
When it becomes mine and is checked out, I probably will carry a full size 1911!! :what:

Noper..
This is why I bought my Glock 19's, because of their size..
They are easy to conceal on my 5' 10.5" 200lb. frame..

I've carried a full size 1911 pretty extensively. Tried carrying my PT99 for a couple days but I really think it would take a lot for me to get used to it.
Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm going to get a polymer Kahr for a carry piece. As much as I'd like the 1911, I'm going to try a gun I can carry in the same manner year round.

- - -Unless you count the Browning High Power in that group. The handle IS fairly large, though the upper half is slim-n-trim.:p I carry one occasionally, just for a change of pace.
In days of yore, I used to get a wild hair and stick an old (ac-40) P38 in my waistband. A few hours of THAT though, would get it out of my system. It always amazed me how an 8+1 pistol could need such a broad slide. And that sharp edged safety/ decocking lever just made it worse.
At least, you guys with the Berettas and Taurii have the high capacity to go with the broad slide.
My daily carry, though, is still a Commander . . . .
Best,
Johnny

... a Glock G20 and a Bertta 96 Brigadier Inox.
These will be tried out for the CCW battery of pistols. On a continuing basis, the S&W 1066 is my current daily CCW. Maybe not full sized enough to qualify, but a friend recently asked why I felt I needed to use such a boat anchor for a CCW piece.:D

two blink , no bio corn, we grew popcorn , that was invented after I quit growing , i think it was the Irish/welsh combination that did it and the fact of grandma kicking me in the **S that made so tall !!as for the bulkin up throw a couple of hundred 110 lb haybails a week and you kind of get muscular too . that and gram was a good cook .

I don't carry, but I know some folks who do (mostly police).
The shortest guy is about 5'4", 180 and I believe he has a P226 and a P239 on his permit. The next size up is an ABC that is about 5'7" and maybe 140 (relatively similar in build to you), I'm positive that when carrying, he's got a P226. A friend of a friend picked up a P230 for a backup, and is probably going to be carrying an XD40 as well.
Another guy I used to know lived in a crappy section of Oakland, was about 5'6" and 135lbs, he carried a G27. I suspect he didn't have a carry permit.
