Rethinking My USP Obsession

As much as I like the USPs, their great reliability, accuracy, tacticallity, CDI factor, funness, etc. etc. etc. no matter how much I shoot them I know they'll fall short of the P7M8, the über-HK.

Makes me think I should invest in another P7 or a really nice 1911 and just concentrate on those two, considering the USP isn't the most carry-friendly arm?

Your thoughts?

I am just a poor GI with wife and children who cannot afford a P7 so I charge you to go out and purchase one or more so that I might live vicariously through you!!!:p

Skunk,

Do it for those of us that can't afford USPs or less P7s! For pity's sake man, do it for the team!

Do it for the kids, man! Do it for the kids!

Consider this...a USPc 9 or P2000 will hold more (even at only 10 rounds) than a M8, cost less, weigh less and be just as effective as the P7M8. Why not have one of each so you can change what you carry to suit your needs.

I have spoken, so it is so! :neener:

Why not just get one of each. You can then share pics with the rest of us who were glad we had kids at home come tax time... :(

Independently wealthy??? I give up a lot to buy all my toys and you know what...it's worth it. I don't miss the fries and soda I didn't have last week, or the movie I didn't see or even didn't catch when it came to video.

I don't miss not going to clubs with my college friends, or having a microwave lunch instead of a sandwich....and I have my HKs to show for it!!! :D

Skunk, I got a question for you. What about the USP will make it fall short of the P7?

I've not shot the P7 (yet), but if we could understand what makes the USP inferior, we could assist you with your dilemma more effectively

The cost/benefit ratio is just not there for a 1911. Do what is practical, buy a .22LR to practice with..

P7? Take one to the range and put 200 rounds through it. Without wearing insulated gloves. Or dunking it in a bucket of water. Then tell us how you liked it.

1911, serviceable (lots of parts available), and very accurate. Just make sure you use Wilson mags w/ it, and you're set!

P9S. You won't believe it until you shoot one.

P9S is a nice gun, but the P7 shoots just as well (for me) and is much easier to find mags and leather for, as well as being more 'toteable'... To each their own, I guess.

Skunk,
I wouldn't trade my P7 for a crate of USPs.

Skunk, you need another P7 so you can keep shooting while the 1st cools down.

:D

I understand your dilemma. Awhile back I bought a P7 and a Les Baer and have been trying to decide which one gets dumped and which one gets duplicated...

:uhoh:

The problem is, I also got a really good deal on an old HiPower (love it) and I started building a lightweight commander-sized 10mm for fun.

I really don't wanna be a 'collector' :( .

I think escaping from california will clear up a lot of missery as far as RKBA is concerned, I suggest you do that first. :D
