I just inherited a bolt-action Mossberg 183T .410 with full choke. The info I've been able to find on the net about it is scant. It came with a really old box of 3" shells with #7.5 shot. Calls to local gun dealers looking for info have resulted in responses along the lines of "That's a good question, sir...I dunno!" as well as some conflicting information.

So I put the question to you all, what can I put through this thing? Can I put rifled slugs (magnum) through this or is that too much pressure? What length shells are safe to use? etc...

Any insight is most appreciated.

It is chambered for 3" shells and you can fire any type 410 shells in it.
