If Ruger would sell their 17HMR with an extra 17HM2 cylinder, I'd run right out and buy one. Has anyone heard if they will?

You might see a Single Six chambered in .17HM2 but I think a lot will depend on just how popular the .17HM2 really becomes. You would think that tooling costs would not be too much as a new cylinder should be the only thing needed to go onto the existing S-S frame.

I have a Marlin 917v and the little .17HMR is really a lot of fun to shoot but the price of ammo is IMHO way too high. The price of .17HM2 is pretty high. Cheaper than Dirt has it for $5.86 box/50 and Outdoor Marksman has .17 Aquila for $4.95 but If the ammo makers find a way to cut the cost then it could be omething for Ruger to consider.

Then we need an SP101 in .17HMR!!

I don't mean to be a smartass here, but what's a .17HMR or .17 Mach2 revolver do that the .22LR/.22WMR combo wouldn't do better and cheaper?

For people who shoot paper targets, both the 17HMR and the 17HM2 will be more accurate and shoot flatter than the 22WMR or 22LR in rifles or handguns. I hunt varmints and tree squirrels with a scoped 22WMR revolver. I suspect the 17HM2 will be more accurate and have a even more flatter trajectory and won't be as destructive to the small game compared to the 22WMR. The 17HM2 is not as powerfull as the 17HMR, so it would be nice to have a combo that would shoot both.

I'm sure you'll see a .17 como in '05. Simple to do. Nothing I particularly want as my Single Six in .22 will do all I'd need from a gun of that sort. While some talk of the performance gains of the .17 compared to the .22, I doubt much differences would be very great in such a package. In a rifle maybe but not in such a reduced bbl.

I agree, I would buy one in a heartbeat!
