I would consider purchasing a Bushmaster Dissapator in a flatop. The longer sight radius and increased handguard area gives it the good shooting qualities of the full size AR. At the same time you also get the quicker manuevering of a 16" barrel. A flatop also allows you to add optics without throwing the balance of the weapon off.
I'd suggest you stay away from the "Entry" or "Stubby" stocks. They can be a bit uncomfortable when shooting without body armor or heavy clothing. Sure, you can add a spacer, but then you are up to a standard A1 length stock. A better option would be to stick to the A2 stock, or if you must have a compact stock, but a collapsible.

Bushmaster doesnt make a midlength barrel that i know of. However ARmalite and Rock River Arms do. I believe that www.adcofirearms.com has chrome lines "ban free" midlength barrels available.
For forearms furniture you can go with Armalite or Rock River Arms (obviously) or Cavalry Arms. Pretty much everyone makes a comparable telestock so your good on that.
I can also recomend getting a "Mega" brand lower ($89 shipped) from this guy http://www.carricozarmory.com/ All the lowers from reputable companies are virtually identical and there isnt any real advantage to buying from one company over another (unless your big on having a Snake or Pony on your rifle).
Mega also makes upper recievers that have been well reviewed. But honestly i would just get a complete upper (assembled barrel and receiver assembly) since your not really saving any money by putting it together yourself.
