If a vehicle is in order, then a Toyota Hilux 4x4 or a SFA Toyota Landcruiser 4x4 would have to replace my second tarp on my list...

I wonder if either one would fit in a backpack..:D

Because its the _Aussie_ bush, you won't have many options as far as firearms go.

Is there an Australian member who can remind us what is legal over there these days?

I'll play anyway. Remember that in a survival situation, the things most likely to kill you are:

1) Hypothermia
2) Dehydration
3) Starvation.

I didn't see any firestarting gear in that kit, so that would be my first "luxury".

Next would be some water purification gear. Maybe a BIG sheet of plastic for a solar still?

Third would be a firearm. That discussion could fill pages.

After that, it would items for comfort. A good sleeping bag, a good air mattress, a good tent.

the Ruger 10/.22 is restricted to holders of an appropriate "C"
category licence...so you'd need to own a large property or be an animal control officer. Expect regular inspections of your storage facilities...at which time you could ask the cop to order more supplies for you:D

No M-16 unless you are "D" licenced security and/or have friends well up in the police/government hierarchy:rolleyes:

A 1911!? Heavens! A .45? That is considered to be too large a handgun calibre for possession by anyone these days. Calibre maximum of .38:uhoh:

On the plus side...while it may be cool at night in winter, it'll be warm to blazing hot in the daytime. Bring a good hat, and a flynet if you don't like the taste of flies bred in dung... :)

Hey, that's living easy. Do you have to wander around any? If you've gotta hike out, I'd likely lose/trade the extra pair of pants, etc... Hey - for that matter, I don't think that wearing the same clothing for two weeks is gonna kill anyone... Less weight in the pack means you can move faster.

I'd want a pot to cook the rice in...

Nice big roll of stainless snare wire.

Enough condiments to last two weeks, emphasis on the salt.

1. Plenty of arrows. I can make a selfbow fast, but not arrows.
2. 500 ft. of 550 cord
3. A cooking pot (thanks, Bogie)

The canteen I was thinking of is the us military type with the steel cup that comes with it. Planned to have rice cooked in that (boil water there too)
I like the 10/22 magnum but considering ?aussie law would substitute a T/c contender carbine in 22 mag and 45/70 spare barrel. 500 rds 22 mag 40 45/70 hammerhead loads garretts.

Okay, assuming I get to pick the clothing (i.e. it would all be lightweight synthetic SPF30 stuff....)

One Done Right Mfg. "Spark-Lite" firestarter (deserts get cold at night, and fires can be used for signaling.)

One small stainless steel bowl, polished on the inside to a mirror finish. Signal mirror, as well as something to cook in.

Last item would be either a roll of snare wire (also used to pitch the tarp) or a good pair of gloves (get a nasty cut on your hands, and you're done for.)

I thought about a water filter, but two weeks is really too short a time to devlop anything really life-threatening, and they have antibiotics back in civizilation.
