The October, "Outdoor Life" is the best issue in a long while.

Jim Carmichel has two useful articles, one on ammo. This post is about three of his rifles.

Worth a look. My only puzzlement is about him taking a .338 to Africa, where the .375 H&H Magnum seems more appropriate, and is actually the minimum required for large game in some countries. Nonetheless, he hit one lion in a shoulder, and the Nosler 250 grain .338 bullet went through diagonally.

Considering that J.A. Hunter shot lions for the hides in early Kenya with a 7X57mm, that isn't remarkable, but is still nice performance.

All three rifles are classic-stocked beauties.

Take a look if you like fine hunting rifles.

Oh: the .458 has the forward sling swivel in the stock, not out on the bbl. Bet that hurts the hand in recoil.
