Hello, I saw a very lightly used 11-87 Police with an 18" brl and ghost ring sights at the gun shop today. Looked like a 7-rd capacity extended tube. It was attractively priced at $450.

I'm thinking of buying it and adding a couple of features to 'evil it out', just for fun.

Is there a collapsible stock for it? Maybe a folder or a sliding stock like on ARs.

What about enhancing the ghost ring sights? Are there fiber-optic or tritium inserts for both the front and rear sights that are easy to install? The rear sight is soldered to the reciever, so I'm hoping that just the internals could be swapped out without replacing the entire assembly.

By the way, this thing is HEAVY! At first I thought that it just seemed that way because it balances differently from the 30" 1100 that I'm used to, but I looked it up on Remington's web site and it weighs in at over 8 pounds!

Since the recoil spring system is in the butt, no folder will work.

It's possible one of the collapsing, AR15-type stocks MIGHT work, I'm not sure about it.

Luminous sight conversion depends on the sights already on the gun.
If the front sight is a standard dovetailed sight on a base, a new sight can simply be inserted.
If the front is a one piece unit, replacement depends on whether it's brazed or screwed on.

As far as I know, all Remington factory sights are brazed on, not screwed or soft soldered. If so, the sights are permanent and can't be removed.

The rear can likely be converted by buying a new eye piece and installing it in the existing base assembly.
