Has anyone used this color? Does it really match a true hot blue? I'm looking to use it on a Remington shotgun barrel and I'm wondering how well it will match the receiver. Thanks for any info.

I am interested too. It is hard to imagine how this could be accomplished, although they also have a clear finish now. So perhaps the hot blue is nothing more than the clear finish with the addition of a blue tint, kind of like the dye used to color light bulbs or the transparent colors available for plastic model builders.
If it is a clear finish that has been tinted, then it would need to be applied over bare metal, but GunKote recommends applying their finishes over a bead blasted and parkerized surface. So I am wondering just what this finish is and how it works. I am familiar with and have used the semi-gloss black and it works well when you follow the instructions.

parkerising's not nessary,if you heavy grit blast,120 or 80,depending on the hardness of the metal,pre-heating dries out the coating before it has time to soak into the surface of the metal, and the new gun blue is close to a hot tank blue,it is a pigmented color like the other colors,i have it in semi-gloss and a flat,i think the flat colors come out to dusty, they shine up if you rub on them with a cloth or your fingers,i don't like them to much.the color will match a dulite salts blue.
