As I only have one big bore (if you don't count 357mag) presently I would say my S&W 45LC Mountain Gun.

It's a tie between a $&W 25-5 4", and an Old Model Ruger Blackhawk with a 7.5" barrel.

Both blue, well, what there is left of it.

I have quite a few in this caliber. my favorite for std loads is a tossup between my 25-5 8 3/8" S&W and my navy arms schofield.
For the high pressure loads again its a tossup between my custom 45 blackhawk and my bisley vaquero convertable. Of course there are also the 3 vaquero's and then the colt SAA clones, of course the custom bisley bulldog is a fun gun too! I guess I have more like a favorite bigbore caliber than a particular gun:D If its 45 caliber it cool by me!

I have a .44 magnum S&W 629 Classic with 5-inch barrel that I like very much. The gun has the excellent trigger you expect from N-frame Smiths, and the 5-inch barrel length is a nice compromise between the somewhat unwieldy 6-inch barrel and the "too short for the caliber" 4-inch barrel.

Tough call... but I'd have to say my PC 625:

At least I can shoot it pretty well, so I guess that makes it my favorite.

Favorite? Well, I really enjoyed shooting the Ruger 454 casull (maybe I'm a wee bi sadistic). But if I were to pick one to own, I'd probably go w/ the 625.

I haven't shot too many big bore handguns. Defining big bore as any caliber larger than 357mag, here is the list:

Taurus Raging Bull 6" bbl 45Colt
S&W Mod 629 8" bbl 44Mag
1911A1 style gun in 45ACP (can't remember the brand)

My fav is the RB. It's just soooo much fun to shoot and accurate as well. Bowling pins are not safe at 100yds. It's a fine big bore plinker. The 629 was just too long. I liked the 1911, but prefer the RB overall.

I have to many Big Bore Handguns to narrow it down to just one. I have a lot of 45's and a whole bunch of 44's and I like them all. Well if pushed against a wall I'd have to say that 1 of my favorites is a 1955 Target Model 45acp revolver, love those big bullets in those moon clips. :D

I'll weigh in with the other .44 mag people here .... Super Blackhawk. BUT ... with ''useful'' homeloads ... not them ''pussy'' factory deals!!:p

Very much hanker for a .480 ... , reckoning that the .454 is just a tad too unnecessarily punishing. No harm in dreaming!

I only own 2 handguns that could be remotely considered "big bore", those being my Glock 21 and S&W 681 in .357 magnum..
My favorite of the two changes constantly, so picking my "favorite" one is going to be nearly impossible.

A "big bore" that I'd like to add to my collection would be a .454 Casull or the new S&W in .50 cal... You wanna' loan me the money.?! :p

Kinda (for 'big bore) like my 41 5.5" best.

That said, I most prefer my 7.5" 357 version, because it's just so fun for shootin IPSC (that tube seems to take forever to clear the Sparks HSR....) and it doesn't get as hot during long field courses.

I AM NOT RIGHT :scrutiny:

I like the fact that weshoot2 is also a Redhawk addict! :D

It's a toss up between my Super Redhawk .480 7 1/2" and my Redhawk .44 5 1/2".

Both are a ball at the local range - real head-turners, especially when I unload a cylinder full of .480...quickly...double-action...controlling the recoil...with a big smile on my face!

I always have someone coming up and asking what kind of beast I am shooting. Really enjoy the big bores.

I'm thinkin' that a SRH .454 is the next purchase!

1878 Colt.. good choice!

I always liked the Colt New Service, in 45 acp or 45 Colt it's impressive, funny thing is it's so heavy that it doesn't kick much, hardly at all compared to a 1911. Wish there was such a thing as a New Service in 44 mag.

I know you all will laugh.. but one of these days I'd like to get an Automag. I just think they are really neat weapons.

I don't own a lot of big bore handguns. I have a 4" Model 29, a 3" 629, a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt, and a Super Blackhawk.
I would have to say my faviorite is the 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk. It is kind of a pain to carry on the belt, although I did so for several years when traveling off the beaten path. But it is a very strong gun, and mine is very accurate. It is just one of those guns that is a real pleasure to shoot for me. I don't think you can really describe how some guns just seem to be the perfect thing for you.

I have to have multiple choices on this one!

For carry: Glock 36 - light, compact, powerful enough to get the job done.

For hunting and target work: Ruger Redhawk, 5½" barrel, stainless, in .44 Magnum - particularly with Garrett Hammerheads loaded. Those loads pack a kick and a half!!! :what:

For pure downright fun: Ruger Old Army Vaquero, in stainless steel. 30 grains of black powder behind a .457 round lead ball. Sheer shooting pleasure! :D

At last, a question with an EASY answer.

A .45 ACP, of course.

Well, perhaps NOT so easy. From that point, it becomes complicated. Could be - - -

Commercial 1911

Officers ACP
Sistema Colt Argentine
S&W 1917 (2nd Model Hand ejector)

Favorite? Tough question, as I have many choices, from .41 mag to .50 A.E., in revolvers, autos, and single-shots.

After some consideration, I shall defer to my sentimental favorite, which also happens to be a gun I shoot very well for some reason.

It's a Webley Mk. IV, currently wearing a 6" Mk. VI barrel. It's been converted to run on .45 ACP and is sporting a very pretty set of grips I made out of the wildest-grained piece of mahogany I've ever seen.

Built in 1914, and serving through the Great War, (Through it, not neccessarily IN it. ;) ) it has Style, History, Panache, and Character.

Or it's quite old, and really funny-looking, depending upon your viewpoint. :D

And me with no camera. Rats.

Seem to be liking either the Ruger SBH Bisley, 7 1/2" in .45 Colt or the S&W 25-7, 5" as my favorite in the big bore family.

Nothing against the Smith 29 DX or the Vaquaro, they're no slouch. Neither are the Glocks (21 and 30) or the couple of 1911's. The Norinco can (and does) give the top two a run for their money.

Just seems that the revolvers take top pick for fun and accuracy.

Wouldn't want to carry them every day and I've seen them shoot way better than I can by others who seem to bring out the best in them.

Adios

For serious social purposes, the M1911 (currently a Kimber Classic.) For other purposes, the Colt New Service (Mine was made in 1906.)

Yes, I have a couple of Ruger Blackhawks in that caliber, but the Colt is so . . . Colt.:p

I wonder why Colt doesn't do a nostalgia re-run of the New Service as S&W has on some of their older models? My brother says I'm like an Indian waiting for the buffalo to return.:D

Well. In keeping with the definition of "big bore" as "anything that starts with a 4," I'll say...

My .45s (Ruger P90, Springer GI 1911, and Kimber Tac Ultra II), and my Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm. Convert that last one to inches and it's a .400, so it counts. :D And I don't personally own a .44 Mag yet, but I've shot a relative's, and it's a sure-fire grin-inducer, too!
