What guns are you waiting for them to make now that the AWB is over?

October 8, 2004, 12:11 AM
I want a folding stock H&K MP-9 type carbine. SOG was selling some post ban style ones for around $1000 but now that we can have folding stocks, I would buy one! Also UZIs are back in vogue but I would rather have a carbine that doesn't feed through the grip for ergonomic reasons.

I don't know if it will be legal or not but a folding stocked short barreled semi-auto shotgun with a box mag that held 20 or so shells would be pretty cool also! I think that may be considered a destructive device but it would be sweet.

Sig 55x series
Beretta AR-70 or BM59

Fat chance on all four.

Not going for guns. I'm going for accessories.

Mags, sure...

But I can now buy a suppressor for my "post-ban" AR. There is a guy "Dave Fisher" of Fisher Enterprises who makes a suppressor that fits on a Vortex (Smith Enterprises) flash suppressor.

I now have the same Vortex on my AR, my FAL, and my Savage 10FP. One .30 caliber suppressor for three rifles. Supposedly the .30 cal hole won't diminish the performance from the .22 cal AR too much.

An affordable FAL clone, not made by Century.

October 8, 2004, 02:19 PM
A Krinkov.

Color me strange.

That SIG 551 carbine is a sweet looking rifle. I bet the price is really interesting also.

Is it me or do the Sig 55 series look like updated HKs?

October 9, 2004, 12:39 PM
About a year ago, there were rumors that DSA was going to start manufacturing a domestic AUG after the ban expired.

AFAIK, DSA has steadfastly refused to either confirm or deny this.

We can hope . . .

Jack19, its you. The SIG 550s are upgraded SIG 540s, which are a decent departure from the more Kalashnikov-like piston of the SIG 530. As I recall.

The 540/550 seem to be somewhat derived from the AR-18, which though not a success itself fed the L.85, G-36/XM8 and many, many other guns.

I would like to see pretty much anything. Like the SIG 55x, FNC-90, FAMAS, AR-70/90, SR-88, SAR-21, Ultimax and Galil, just off the top of my head. We may not see HKs, but plenty of licensees exist, so maybe someone of the quality of DSA will emerge to give us unsullied G3, 33 and MP5 clones.

EDIT: Oooh! I just thought of another one. The SIG 542. Its like the 550s, but is in .308. The whole 540 series, and an SMG called the FAMAE, are made by a SIG licensee in Chile. I see no reason someone couldn't weld up receivers in the US, contract for stocks and, say, gas pistons, and have a line of very nice "US made" rifles and carbines.

I've been dying for the past two years to get an AUG or USR, but I just can't spend $3000 on a rifle.

I was really hoping to see some new stuff come out after the ban died, but sadly, it seems like we are cursed with more Stoner battle rifles.

As for what I would sell a testicle for: AUG, FAMAS, P90, G36, Tavor, Krinkov, Vihkr (new Russian rifle with an amazing double shot ability - two bullets can fire with one trigger pull, giving 2 rounds in almost exactly the same spot), L85 (I have heard some people don't like this rifle, but it just looks so damned neat), and damn near anything else that has been designed in the past 50 years.

It is really sad that in a country with a constitutional amendment that protects private firearm ownership, that we don't have access to firearms that have been made within the last generation.

Just more rifles that are blacker and eviler. Anything to upset the GFWs!

I would like to see a US made copy of the Valmet in 7.62 NATO. They could import the fat tube folding stock and make the rest here. I held one of those years ago and I was all prepared to hate it. But that tube was solid as a rock once it locked in place. I just couldn't swing the kind of money he wanted for it!

I think a US copy of the Galil and the Valmet, both with folding stocks and in 7.62 NATO, would sell like crazy here if you could keep the price around $800. Most "regular people" have a hard time spending over $1000 on a rifle!

I'd go for a semi-auto HK UMP. Or, maybe an AUG

October 11, 2004, 12:06 AM
Shiny new AR-15 Pistols - so someone will buy one and sell me (refugee in AWB-laden NY) their grungy old one. Ditto for Beta-C mags and stripped pre-ban AR-15 lowers.

October 11, 2004, 12:54 AM
I'd just like to see Jeff Cooper's "Thumper" put into production.

Not to nudge this thread too far off-topic, but what happened to DSA's site? :uhoh:

October 11, 2004, 01:28 AM
I want a Calico 100 round .22 rifle. Them things used to be around 250 bucks which aint bad and as about buck rodgers as you can get.

Anybody hear of these lately?

October 11, 2004, 10:46 AM
Call me wierd, but I have always wanted a TEC-9 (when I was a kid, My favorite plastic toy gun was a TEC-9) I know they arent good for much, but I think they just look so cool!

October 11, 2004, 10:56 AM
Count me in for the semi-affordable 55X series from SIG. I am a realist though and know it will still be between 1400-2000 for one of these best case scenario.

October 11, 2004, 08:54 PM
Sig will not be importing the 550/551/552. The 551 & 552 barrels are too short, and they don't plan on making a U.S. 550.

I asked them all of the above via e-mail and received a personal reply.

DADGUMMIT!!!!!:cuss:

Michaels Machines has offered to build a 922(r) compliant SIG 551.
However at $4500, not enough people have shown interest to make them.

http://www.michaelsmachines.com/ ( there is no info on the web site about the SIG )

You can build a 922(r) compliant G36 from a HK SL8 and the kit from Top Notch. Can be done for under $2000 depending on how you set it up.

Here is a link to one I built: No Ban G36 (http://hkpro.websolv.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=189509&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=&vc=1&PHPSESSID=)

You can also build a USC from a UMP: www.usc45.com (http://www.usc45.com/)

Vector Arms sells HK93 and HK53 clones: Vector (http://www.vectorarms.com/)

Hopefully we will get some cool surprises from the next Shot Show convention.
