Anyone got the new Ruger Mark III?

This gun should be available in Massachusetts -- so they tell us. Since the Mark II wasn't allowed here, I wouldn't know the difference. Anyone have this gun yet? I'd be interested in how it shoots and if it's any easier to clean than the other models.

I believe that production been halted n the MKIII models to re-design a potential problem with them. I see it as basically the same as the MKII except for the noted changes (mag disconect, loaded chamber indicator, mag release position) I'd think that it would e just as ccurate as the MKII's were as would take down. They didn't create an entire new model just altered an existing model slightly.

I have never seen one, but I understand the loaded chamber indicator rests on the cartridge rim. Doesn't seem too bright in a rimfire.

Seen them only in gunzines. My dealer says they are a year away.

Say what?! I handled one at a gun show 3 weeks ago. (Yes, I can see where the loaded chamber indicator could be a problem.:uhoh: )

I can't believe that design mistake made it through... :uhoh:
I remember reading about it a while ago too.
Glad I can enjoy my Neos and my wifes Walther P22.

I recently ordered an integrally suppressed ruger 22, and i insisted that it be built upon the old mkii platform, even though i hate heel mag releases....I tend to hate accidental discharges MORE.

The Mk. III is available for sale at a number of stores here in Louisiana. Perhaps they're using us for a test market? Can a Cajun cope with the problematic loaded chamber indicator? :D

My father handled a 5" Walther .22 at the range recently and fell hard for the gun. He now wants one in two-tone....:D Given what I've heard on the Ruger Mark III, maybe I should pass, get the Walther? I think my New Single Six is the better Ruger buy....:)

there are still plenty of new mkii's in stock around, just look.
and they are plentiful on the used market.
check the for sale adds, Wildalaska has some deals on the p22's right now. I ordered a short barrel model from him for 230 something.

arinvolvo,
First, I don't think the MkIIs are out of production.
Second, the 22/45 has no chamber loaded indicator (the receiver barrel and bolt are identical to a MkII) and it has a mag release in the "proper" place. You can get a 22/45 and swap out your upper onto it to get a MkII with a mag release in the right place.

As far as i knew, all new ruger 22s are mark III variation...and they are just selling off the remaining mkii stock.
no use making two similar guns that have a difference of a loaded chamber indicator and a standard release.
