these are not wood.... I thought the wood stocks in general were the only ones prone to cracking.... am I wrong??

yzguy: I have seen at least two threads on the Bell & Carlson Duramaxx stocks and almost all the comments were positive. Haven't heard about them cracking. I bought one for my Savage 10FP but haven't put it in yet. It is a very sharp looking stock for the money.

I have the stock pictured..same pattern/color. Bit of material removal for good fit. Waiting for a scope, so haven't shot the rifle yet. Seems like a very nice stock. Certainly better than factory stock. I don't know why it would crack.

GaryH: What did you have to remove and where (and how)? I ask because I put the action into the stock just to see how it would look and the barrel was contacting the right side of the stock its whole length. I figured I would sort it out when I had time to do the installation. Any advice you can give me that would save me grief later would be appreciated!

I installed an aftermarket trigger and removed material associated with the new trigger.

I have already installed a Rifle Basix trigger. Do you think that could be what was thowing the barrel alignment off that much? I noticed that the new trigger is contacting the Savage trigger guard which you have to use with the new stock. I'll have to file the trigger or open up the guard.

mine will be coming with the new acutrigger, so I think I'll give that a try before jumping on an aftermarket trigger setup, but see the duramaxx in my future....

I searched for Bell and Carlson, seems alot of people like them and I have decided to order one from Cabela's - the Black Web version.

Has to be better than the factory one.....:D

Thanks for showing this.
