"Rookie" CZ-75 questions

I've read a lot of favorable comments out here on the CZ-75 family of pistols. I've noticed the local Academy Sports and Outdoors is offering both the 9mm and .40 caliber versions for just under $400 each and I'm considering one for future purchase.

Are these pistols single- or double-action or DAO? It seems like I've read somewhere that they could be carred cocked-and-locked so that suggests SA to me, but I may very well be mixing this weapon up with something else.

Are magazines hard to come by for these pistols? And with regard to mags, are these double-column mags and if so what was their original "pre-ban" capacity?

Thanks for any and all info!

SA/DA. Most CZs have a safety instead of a decocker (although there are those versions also). That way, you can engage the safety when cocked. Downside for some is that you have to manually uncock, but anyone who grew up with SA autoloaders doesn't consider this a problem (actually it shouldn't be a problem for anyone...we've been doing it for years). BTW, there are also SA versions of the CZ if you want.

Mags are easy to get, CZ-USA, Brownells, CDNN, clipsnstuff.com all carry them. They are double stack mags. Don't know what the original capacity is was...someone else can weigh in on that.

Go to the CZForum.com for more info.

Normal capacit is 15 rounds. These mags are easy to come by at about $30 each.

The CZ-75 is fantastic gun. I shoot IPSC with mine and it runs flawlessly.

The CZ-75B is a DA/SA gun with additional choices of decocker, and SA only. Normally comes with a 15rnd mag, and a 10 rnd mag, though depending on your seller tha can vary. high caps are fairly easy to come by, and if you want some junk mags to make it go "bang" at the range a num,ber of us have had good luck with the 4.99 ramline EAA witness mags, though some of us have had to tweak a little to get them to work.
