What Can We Do?

I just posted an article about a high school kid who was arrested because a school security guard saw a FAKE Civil War musket in his car. The kid was part of a reenactment group and was recruited for same through the school. This is on top of the kid whose photo with his trap shooting shotgun has been banned from his yearbook, and the kid whose father was called into school because the kid (was it 4 years old?) was pointing his finger at other kids and going "Bang!"

Political correctness (i.e. paranoia) is running amok. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can cohesively and effectively begin to counteract this idiocy? I don't think flooding each erring school board with letters is enough. That's just addressing the symptoms, like lancing a boil when it erupts, but we need to remove the underlying cancer that is warping people's minds.

How? HOW??

Sadly, there's no magic bullets.

You've got to teach people one at a time, those who are teachable.

If they aren't teachable, you've got to oppose them, one at a time, in public, out loud.

You've got to figure out who's on your team, and who isn't.

Fortunately, the cards are with us on that. Liberals pay homage at the altar of non confrontation, whereas we're a bit more used to the idea of the occassional necessity of peaceably confronting others.

Above all, conduct yourself cooly, rationally, and honorably.

The mechanisms of Liberty are not self maintaining. At some point, you pass from the "someone oughta" mentality to "I've gotta".

Work to change the culture. Support youth shooting programs, inter alia.:)

Make guns less mysterious and more common. Look to what the homosexuals did. Outstanding (political) example to follow.

Money talks, BS walks. The first move I'd make as a local parent would be to pull my children out of this public school system, and put them into either private- or home-school. Then I'd encourage other parents to do the same.

Public schools hate to lose children because they lose fed and state $$$... not to mention they can't indoctrinate the kiddies with liberal dogma if the kids attend school elsewhere.

I think John Stossel said it best regarding the zero tolerance policy in schools.

"Zero tolerance is zero thinking"
