PTR-91 and the Century G91 Sporter rifles are the better two out there. I've heard nothing but bad things about the Hesse/Vulcan receiver clones.

I've got the Century. All parts are mid 1980's HK ans my barrel is mint shiny condition. It eats anything I run through it with zero problems.

Back in 2000, CAI (Century Arms) had imported a few FMP/Indep receiver based G3s with H&K parts. I believe they sold for around $650~700. I have one of these and am very pleased with it. NEVER...ever have I encountered a malfunction of any kind. It will shoot Portuguese FMP surplus into a tight clover leaf pattern at 50 yds. I and it can produce 2" groups at 100 yds (Open sights) using the same surplus. I will go on to say that its quality and make up rival that of a true H&K-91....Oh,oh... I can sense the H&K-Only fanatics begin to light up their Flaming Torches! :D
I can't opine on the rest of them because I've never had any other experiences other than the one with my rifle. I believe others who own the FMPs/Ideps can also support my opinions. These guns are hard to find nowadays.
The only drawback it has is its muzzle brake. I surely attract attention when I let that puppy loose at the range. It is sooooooooo loud!!!
Shooting it feels more like shooting a .243 due to the way it tames recoil. I am very happy with this CAI rifle. I would like to own a PTR-91 one of these days, but for now my FMP G3 is more than GOOD-'nuff!

A company I hadn't heard of until a couple of days ago, Bobcat Weapons, makes semi-auto copies of MP5's and HK94's. Anyone had experience with these?

I believe "Bobcat Weapons" is "Special Weapons" under yet another name. Not necessarily bad, but beware.
