Ok, there is this gun listed on gunbroker. Does anyone have any experience with it. It look good, seems to be unique and in good condition.

I am not interested in optioning it out, it will just be a bunny buster and plinking rifle.

I have one of those rifles. It was made in Germany for Iver-Johnson. It is a very good 22lr rifle. Very dependable and functions flawlessly. It is also one of the most accurate 22's I own. If you search a little, you can find spare magazines for them, but they are a bit pricy. I think I paid $80 for my I/J carbine NIB way back when. I wish I would have bought extra mags at the same time when they were cheap.

Thank you very much for your input. This one comes with 2 mags and a weatherby scope.

I think it will be a good deal at $175.

I too own this same little carbine. As said, it is quite accurate and very reliable....however the internals are somewhat complicated to say the least. I did a detail-strip on mine, and it took several hours to get it all back in place!

Mags are very pricey and getting difficult to find. I only have two with mine. The stock on this one looks a lot darker than mine also. you can install the standard USGI OD sling with the oiler...just like the M-1 carbine. Looks like the factory peepsight is missing on this auction.... I purchased the factory sight from GunParts.com a few years back.

AS far as shooting, this .22 is a hoot! A great plinker. It does eject through the top a lot more than to the side, so the scope may end up a bit dinged.

Good luck! And most of all, enjoy!

Just as an amusing aside....

There's a truck stop in Alabama between Auburn and Shorter called "Torch 85". A couple of older ladies are always at the counter in the "convenience store" part. They keep one of these rifles leaning up against the far wall behind the counter with a yardstick in front of it. It's got duct tape around the stock in a couple places, it's fairly dusty looking, and 90% of the finish is gone. I doubt it would even fire more than once.

One evening as I was paying for my soda, the lady seemed exceptionally friendly and conversational, so I decided to comment on her rifle. I said "that's a nice looking .22 you've got there". She said "Shhhhhh! They don't know it's a .22, and we don't have no trouble outa nobody since we put it there! "

sometime real life is funnier then any fiction.

Well, I am going to pass on this gun. It is up to $200, thats my limit.

I will be looking for a good .22 so I anyone has one for sale in Ga, let me know.

I bailed out of the auction for thie rifle when it hit $200. I just did not think it worth the aggravation if it did not work out. That being said, it did have a nice weatherby scope on it.

It sold yesterday at $344 !!!!!! I quess I might have undervalued it in my mind. Oh weel, I hope the winner loves it.

You probably already know this, but you can't beat a plain ole' Ruger 10/22 as far as semi-auto .22's go. You can find 25 round mags a lot easier than for that M1 Clone. A used one shouldn't set you back more than $200.

It's the "AR-15" or "1911" of the .22 rifle world... countless accessories and add-ons available almost anywhere.

Mine was an all-out "assault-style" .22 from the time I was 16, but now at 33, I realized just how silly it looked at the range. :scrutiny: Just $30 later, and it's a "sporter" :)
