Can you carry a handgun while backpacking in a national forest in TN?

With a CCW permit can you keep a loaded handgun anywhere in your car or are there specific rules as to where it has to be? How about without the CCW permit- can you have a loaded handgun in the car?

I've been to packing.org but didn't find all the answers.

Double check this of course. Does GA have reciprocity with TN?
Did you go here at packing.org?

TN and GA do recognize each other's permits. In fact, GA recognizes any states that will in turn recognize a GA permit.

About the Tennessee law...

From http://www.tennesseefirearms.com/

...Title 70 of the Tennessee Code (the wildlife resources act) prohibits possession of firearms in areas "inhabited by big game." (Except to hunt of course)

This one says no firearms on WMA's except to hunt...
http://www.state.tn.us/twra/hunt001d.html

"...Individuals authorized to carry handguns (those with handgun permits) may not carry their sidearms within Wildlife Management Areas except on authorized hunts and then only during specified hunting hours. "

My interpretation: Since deer are all over the place and there are many urban areas off limits to CCW, It seems the only place where a Tennessee permit is of any use is in Georgia. Maybe if TN allows you to have a pistol in your car with the permit then it might be worth something, but even this is depressing since in GA a pistol is legal in your car loaded in the glove box, console or in plain view even without a permit.

Hopefully this is not as it seems.
