I seem to have finally settled into Phoenix.

Any chance of a get together of local folks to go shooting? Maybe at Ben Avery or wherever? I would really like to meet some local folks.

Dunno where you are in the Valley, but here's my run-down....

I don't know much about the North side. It appears from your suggestion that Avery is your first choice. I've never been there, so I can't comment.

I've been to the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club at South Mountain a couple of times. Their facilities seem somewhat limited, IMO, but depending on where you're coming from, it may be OK.

I'm a member at Rio Salado. They have a fairly large facility (but not as large as Avery), and a fairly diverse list of programs. I shoot IDPA there most months, but they also have IPSC meets at least once a week. Lots of long gun shooting available too. Their one drawback is a very limited facility for shotguns.

And speaking of such, if you're a shottie-lover, check out Red Mountain Trap and Skeet. I'm not much interested in this, but it is available.

Indoor Ranges. [Important in the summer:D ] I wouldn't waste my time at Shooters World. They used to be great, but have declined significantly (although, in fairness, I haven't been there recently.) . I've never been to Scottsdale Gun Club. Their website appears to show a nice facility, but I'm guessing it's pricey. I got my CCW and renewals at Caswells in Mesa. For me, it's close to home, and they had a good program (In my uneducated opinion.).

Gunshows are about every other month. I like Crossroads of the West shows best.

I'll be starting the process of moving to Phx from Tucson in the middle of November, so although I can't make this upcoming shoot, I should be able to make the next one.

I'll likely be living somewhere in the Gilbert/Chandler/Mesa area as that will be fairly close to where I'll be working.

I have a garage sale Saturday. I would be good to go on Sunday.

I would vote for Ben Avery, if I had a vote.

Any chance of postponing for a week to round up more folks?

I am leaning towards postponing for week. So let's say, next Sunday or Saturday the 29 or 30th and see how many chime in.

Good with everyone? I also vote for Ben Avery. I think everyone has a vote.

While I prefer just finding a place "way out yonder" to shoot, Ben Avery is fine with me. :)

I think next weekend.

Anybody want to vote on the day. Either should work for me.

WhoKnowsWho, did you see this request come across the Tucson chapter of THR?

I dont think we have given him proper clearance to vacate Tucson did we?;)

Sorry to hear that your moving up North.

Pitts, PM denfoote and see if he wants to give you the 411.

I have managed to set aside all day next Sunday. Is anyone else available? I had suggested Ben Avery, but then again, I have never gone shooting out in the boonies.

I will PM denfoote as suggested.

No reply from denfoote yet.

So, the story seems to be out in the boonies. But where? And who is in for this Sunday?

Maybe somewhere out near Rainbow Valley? I have a place I usually go to, but I have heard conflicting reports on whether or not one is allowed to shoot there... :uhoh:

I know of another place off of the 10, but it's dirty and nasty. I'll ask some family, they should know an appropriate spot.

WhoKnowsWho, did you see this request come across the Tucson chapter of THR?

Yeah, as long as he will buy my Kahr if I still have it, and he comes back down to Tucson for shoots, and he buys more stuff with his new paycheck, he can move, I guess... :D

Have fun pittspilot, I won't be able to make it, having some sort of ill planned party by my room mate for Halloween, that I have to cook for... :scrutiny:

Dangit,

My life is in constant flux. The wife has an interview on Sunday. So Saturday it has to be. Ben Avery sounds like the place.

Lunch first, then we shoot?

wasrjoe

Dunno if I can do Sat.

Dangit, guys, what's the ding-dang dealie-o??

Are we gonna do this or what?? Saturday? Sunday?

I like Ben Avery 'cause it's easy to get to, but there are lots of "off-road" places to shoot in the same area.

PittsPilot--If your spousal unit has an interview, that sounds like a perfect opportunity for you to be out shooting and not be missed. If transpo is the issue, I'm sure some one will be driving by you and could give you a lift. What part of town are you in? I'm North Central Phoenix.

Let's get it together!

Got a family B-day Sat. Starts at 11:30. No idea of the end time. (I think the last time I couldn't make a THR get together was because of a family b-day, too... hmmm...)

Okay, Saturday it is.

I am in North Phoenix. Let's make it Ben Avery. I have to go and walk a precint in the morning (Got to get Bush Elected). So let's say the afternoon. How about we meet somewhere for lunch, and then go from there. How about 12:30 right by Ben Avery?

I will try to bring some other folks.

Tim

Okie-Dokie, Tim, if nuthin' else it'll be U-n-Me.

There's not much up by Ben Avery, 'cept I seem to remember a new development coming up to the east of the Carefree Hwy exit off I-17. There's probably a fast food place there, Mickey D's or what have you. I'll plan to be there by 12:30 pm. I'll pm Tim my cell phone number, so he can track me down.

Every one else--pm me if you're coming, and I'll send you my cell number as well.

Sure hope we can get a few of you out there. What about Fuff?? I'd sure like to meet that grisly old son of a....

That was fun.

Thanks for letting me shoot your guns.

And those mall ninjas made the place :scrutiny:
