I am shopping for a small .45 ACP pistol for occasional concealed carry. I have narrowed it down to a few candidates. Any input on these choices would be appreciated. Since I am still shopping, I would also consider any pistol that fits in this category that I did not mention. The top 3 are

1. Glock 36

2. Taurus Millenium Pro

3. MiniFirestorm

I have shot the Glock, but have only read about the other 2 on the 'net. Thanks in advance for your erudite opinions.

Get the Glock, the other two have questionable reliablity.

I am also looking for a small .45 to carry. While the Glock 36 is on my list, the other two I am looking at are the C-6.45 Para Carry by Para Ordnance, and the Smith & Wesson Chiefs Special .45.

I shot the Glock 30, and while I loved the reliability and ruggedness, I hated the double stack magazine...the 36 is much easier to handle. Right now, I aml leaning more towards the S&W...cheaper than the Para.

I have had a 36 for a few months now & have been happy w/ it. I was concerned about the recoil from such a small gun, but that dual recoil spring really works...it's quite mild to shoot & very accurate because of it!
My only concern is w/ the grip. I still have to get used to my pinky hanging off it when I shoot it. But that usually only takes a few rounds.

I own the predecessor to the Millenium Pro, the PT-145 in stainless. You can read my posts on thefiringline.com and on this forum. I like it a lot. There does not appear to be a new (not used) gun in the same caliber and weight size range with the same price.

Since this is "version 2.0" of the Millenium line, I wouldn't count it as an entirely new design, which is a good thing.

For concealed carry, I like the double action trigger pull (very reduced likelyhood of accidental discharge) over the G36.

If you do get it, please post your full report...

Delta Elite, how can you comment on a gun's reliability when it has not shipped to dealers yet?

I've got the G36. It's reliable and accurate.

If you are concerned with the lack of an external safety, consider the SAF-T-BLOCK:

If your choices really are: Glock 36, Taurus or MiniFirestorm. By all means pick the Glock.

But, if you are open to other choices..I'm going to look at one of the smaller Para LDA models.

I would not hesitate to get any of the above, but personally would opt for the Firestorm. Have one in 9mm and the .45 version is my next purchase. Saw one at a gunshow Sunday but it was the duo-tone model which I'm not too fond of.

The Firestorm Minis are great little guns. Theyre clones of the Walther P88, or so I've read. Very well made, inexpensive, and carry a lifetime waranty.

Given those three choices, I'd say go with the G36.

As far as the micro-1911s go, I have yet to see a "smaller than an officer's" 1911-type that wasn't a trouble-prone shop queen.
