Found one of these little colts in a shop today.Did a search for them and came up with some hammerless ones and some with no slide lock. The one I found has a fluted barrel, with a hammer and a slide lock.Picke it up for 120.Is there some place I can look up the serial # to find out more?

If it has an exposed hammer it's a Junior, an Astra Cub made for Colt. These don't bring the same $$ as a 1908 Vest pocket pistol.

The serial # range varies greatly--it's not sequential according to my book, so without your serial number it's hard to say when it was made. The Junior was in production 1958-1973.

Look at www.coltautos.com for more info.

I thought the Junior ended in 1968 because it couldn't be imported from Spain under the GCA.

If it is a Junior Colt, it will say so on the slide. It also has "Made in Spain" on the frame. Here is my Junior Colt in .22 Short:

Colt also produced the "Colt Automatic Caliber .25" which was actually manufactured by Firearms International between 1970-73.

Made in 1973, last year of production as far as I can tell.

Hkmp5sd,

As I recall, the Junior model was imported from Spain until GCA 68 intervened. For a period of time (1973 does sound right . . .), Colt made (or commissioned??? Not sure.) the frames here in the USA, and had other component parts imported from Astra in Spain.

I, too, have a .22 Short version stamped "Made in Spain." I've always interpreted this to mean it was one of the "original pre-ban" (pre-GCA 68)models. :uhoh:
