Another tip 'o the hat to 1911 Tuner.

I recently spent a pleasant morning with Tuner, his better half, a bunch of dogs, and various pistol parts. In short order, Tuner had the collies calm and my Springer functional. This last bit was important, given that I couldn't figure out a passable explanation to my wife of why I would purposely mess up a perfectly functional gun.

1911 Tuner and the other High Road members who, like him, help out the naive and confused are what make this site outstanding. Thank you very much indeed.

What I'm wonderin' is...How much is it worth for me not to tell your wife about it?

Meant to ask ya yesterday...Charlotte Metrolina Expo show comin' in December...You're welcome to ride with me from here if you wanna try to make it. Usually a very good show, especially if you're on the prowl for...
ummm...never mind. :uhoh: Don't wanna reveal too much here, lest all the good stuff disappears before I can get there.:p

Come on back any time! At the present, I'm plannin' on another two forum members stoppin' by for a little tweak and a pot of Terrible Turbo Coffee.
One next week and one November the 5th....his 3rd trip. Also got a real,
live USAF fighter pilot comin' in mid-November to get a hammer and sear replaced on his heirloom 1918 Colt. I gotta be strong. I'm subject to make him an offer that he can't refuse for the pistol, and I'm so broke, I can't
even afford Starbucks Mornin' Blend coffee since YOU GOT ME HOOKED ON IT!

That's your first sign of weekness, be care where thoust tread, many have fallen victim to fake coffee. Next thing you know you'll be playing with plastic guns and drinking hot tea. We'll keep yu in our prayers though.

HOO- ah!

And another one's gone
Another one's gone
Another one bites the dust!

Next thing you know, 'Tuner, you'll be making that early morning drive, in all weather, every morning, to the Temple Of Bean, where you'll say "Double Short Breve Mocha with Almond Extra Hot". After a few days, you'll have exact change ready.

After a couple weeks, they'll know you, and you won't have to say anything.

A couple weeks after that, they'll recognize your car as it pulls into the parking lot, and they'll have it ready for you when you walk up to the counter.

Christmas day is always a drag, because the lines are really long, and they expect really big tips.

And whatever you do, don't try French Roast. It's the Hard Stuff, and, like heroin, there is no way back. Once you've tasted French Roast, you won't be able to drink coffee at most restaurants. It's as fate worse than decaf.

We will now do the Starbuck's Welcome Dance.

Ready, SHAKE!

Jammer........If ya try holdin' yer breath 'til that happens, you'll die.

Short almond WHAT??? The closest I get to them fancy flavored yup coffies is a tablespoonfulla Carnation Hazlenut creamer in a big mugful...just to keep the Terrible Turbo Coffee from eatin' holes in my goozle on the way to my tum-tum.:D

Warning to all who would visit my humble abode...Tuner's Turbo Coffee is NOT for the squeamish. Many have been reduced to trembling pools of
protoplasm after just a sip. I cut my man np1 a break and made it half-strength on account of I'd like for him to come back sometime...He might notta made it home if it'd been the real deal. He's got a family, after all...

Ooohh, you're susceptible- stay out of Starbuck's.

They have some flavors they made just for you! Whatever you do, don't tell them that that's what you like, or you will be assimilated!

Danger, 'Tuner, DANGER!

Hey Tuner,

Dang, I thought we had a gentleman's agreement regarding my wife and her husband's abilities as a pistolsmith! Remember the lady's Italian and calmin' her down is a might tougher than gettin' those collies quieted. How much are we talking about?

Now about your coffee. A very wise man once told me that "if it Flies, Floats, or - and I can't seem to remember the third 'F' - rent, don't buy." Now I've followed this bit of wisdom long enough to know that the old gentleman knew what he was talkin' about. You will notice that this genius never mentioned coffee, scotch whiskey, or guns. I submit (as someone with a more than passing knowledge of items 1 and 2) that his exclusion was purposeful. In these particular categories of life, ya' get what ya' pay for.

Now Old Fuff knows a bunch about firearms and even something about ANG aircraft with big 'ol nose mounted cannon. Jammer is an expert on springs - among other things, and I'm sure your other correspondants are experts in their own particular areas too. I myself drink coffee, and am willing to certify yours as absolutely first-rate. And I would have done so sooner in this thread to save you some grief, but I couldn't get my hands to stop shaking.

About that December trip. You bet! That's kinda' like going to Toyland with a big ugly elf. All the best.

Luzianne with chicory made strong. A little goes a long way!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm an expert on houses and calming one specific lady down.

I'm a rank beginner on everything connected with 1911's, aircraft, or any other female.

Ken...I'll have a supply of Luzianne here when ya roll in. I used ta drink a lotta Luzianne...but I got too strung out on the chickory and started buyin' the stuff on the black market and hidin' it. That's the first sign that a man's got a chickory problem...When I started brewin' the stuff without the coffee...I knew I had to go cold turkey or die a slobberin' chick-fiend...

I think, however, that I can handle an occasional social chickory-laden cuppa Joe now without goin' back down the tubes...

Nope.

A closet yuppie would be someone who was hiding the fact that he/she was a yuppie.

You're a latent yuppie, which is completely different. :D

I like french roast and house blend. I start the day with a nice trip to see the lovely young things behind the counter, (living in the City of the Star, it's three blocks away. City blocks, none of your country mile things.) and then come home and put on a pot.
