Nylon stock question

I bought a factory nylon stock for my Remington 870 that is hollow. I am thinking abou filling the butt up with "minimally expanding" foam in a can. I'm just trying to add a little support to some pretty thin plastic. Does anybody know if the solvents in the foam would harm the butt stock?
When I was a kid my Mom bought me a lever action cap gun. It wasn't 3 hours old when I tripped and broke the butt stock off at the wrist, it was hollow too. Some things you just don't forget.

I don't know how the stock is made, but I have a couple of comments.
First, unlike the cheap plastic in your cap gun, that Nylon is very strong and I don't think it needs any support.
Second, I have used that foam and it makes Krazy Glue look like butter for ease in removal, so don't get it on ANYTHING you don't want it to permanently attach to. I used some to back up tile in a shower and got a tiny amount on the fiberglass shower pan. I got it off, but at the cost of a permanent mark on the pan.
Third, be careful the foam does not get into the hole where the buttstock screw is, or you will never get the stock off. If you do go ahead, remove the stock first, that way you can re-drill the hole.
The foam does not get real hard, but it gets tough and difficult to even cut off.

I agree with Mr. Kennan.
The stock is strong - even if it does not have soul and character . :p
I see I am not the only one that had to remove that Foam from Fiberglass... I was lucky , the stickers that are applied for non - slip - covered my "removal marks". Shush - don't tell. *wink*
I also know if you need to get back to a burst pipe....and said pipe runs inside cement blocks at a duck camp....and you used that foam to insulate. You get to break cement bricks , and replace them after replacing the pipe . Not fun on a cold , wet, snowy day and it is 20* ....without the wind chill factor I did not want to know....
Brrr....

The Remington stocks aren't fiberglass, and probably not nylon.
These are made from one of the modern "engineering-grade" fiber-reinforced polymers, possibly Delrin.
These synthetic stocks are WAY stronger than wood, and are almost impossible to break.
Like most of these new plastics, most glues won't adhere, and most solvents won't touch them.
I don't think the foam will add much actual strength, but should eliminate the hollow "THONK" sound the stock makes when bumped.
I'm planning to do this to mine, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Apparently, the preferred method is to use tape and clay to attach a plastic tube to the hole for the stock bolt to act as a dam to keep the foam from entering the hole.
After the foam sets up and stops expanding, the tube can be removed.
Excess is trimmed with a hobby knife.
Also, it's recommended to use a longer applicator tube on the can to insure getting the foam all the way down into the pistol grip area.

IIRC they are made from a material called GRZ which is the trade name for glass reinforced Zytel which are nylon. The solvents in teh foam will not harm nylon but it really is a mess to clean off.
