Anyone ELSE ever shoot Blazer .38 Spl ammo?

I tried a box. RNL bullets. Their 45 and 9mm ammo works great but is jacketed.
Whenever I get new ammo, for some odd reason I always kinda stick the bullet end into the muzzle of the gun just to kinda check fit and whatnot (?)
It seemed to be a VERY loose fit. So I ....ASSUMED....it must be a heeled bullet and the part that should fit was in the case.
Well, I was WRONG.......I think.........
I shot the box in my M66 at the THR Yolo shoot Saturday. I finished getting the lead out of the forcing cone YESTERDAY!
Even had to take an old penknife and stone it sorta flat and tapered to work on the bigger lumps. (Yes I am careful not to gouge the lands or grooves)
But it MUST be an undersized bullet that tries to FIND some rifling as it skids along. WHAT a mess.
I noticed some flyers when I switched from my usual wadcutters and they kept getting wider.
Anyone else ever shoot this stuff?

I shoot Blazer ammo in all my guns, but I use jacketed ammo only.
I don't like cleaning out lead.

I've shot Blazer ammo through my guns in the past. My experience is that it tends to be a little on the dirty side. The lead stuff must be worse

Yes it is a bit dirty. (the jacketed) But the stuff shoots terrific groups in my Gold Cup.
I also have some Israeli mid range stuff that is DIRTY! Like candle soot. Groups good but you MUST clean before finishing even ONE box. Not a good choice.
But.............leading ?????????????/ UGH!
Looked at Ammoman. ONLY hi vel stuff from him for 38 spl.
WHY doesn't anyone sell mid range target ammo?
Doesn't ANYONE just want to punch paper anymore?
I like BLASTING too, but sometimes like to relax with a mild load that ISN't designed to make one shot stops at 300 yards.

I use it in .45 and .357. Seems to be on the hot side. No problems did see the 158 grain .357's jam up the cylinder of a 2.5 inch 686 plus (shot fine, couldn't extract them). No problems in the GP-100 I was shooting at the same time. Poked out the cases with a pencil, and the gun continued to function fine. I assume the aluminum cases swelled.

Have used it, but I don't care for it (same problems you're having--very dirty.) For cheap ammo, I prefer S&B--esp. the jacketed versions. But I reload more for my .38's than I do buy ammo for them...:D

I have shot the Blazer .38 Special RNL through my Smith model 19 before and it is like poring solder down your barrel and letting it cool. I wondered if anyone else noticed that. My experience with Blazer and jacketed bullets has been just fine.

Dang it! I just checked my Ruger Speed Six that I shoot with that ammo and it is leaded by the forcing cone also!:banghead:
I just bought half a case from Natchez and I still have 7 boxes left.
It shoot good groups though.

About a year back, I bought up all the LSWC .44 mag CCI Blazer that the local KMart had. On sale, it was $1.00 a box of 50. I got about 900 rounds for less than $20.
I have shot a lot of it in my Ruger SA, my Smith Mountain gun, and in my Marlin 1894S rifle. So far, I have experienced no problems. I don't find that it leads any worse than any other lead bullet. Pretty hot, and fairly accurate. It is dirty, but other than that, no objections here.

one box of the stuff and never again , this stuff was dirty and smoked horrable ( checked box to make sure it wasn't wolf ) no extraction or leading but the inside of the barrel was sooty , and the carbon fouling on the outside , looked like I shot 500 rds not 50 .

Yes, about 100 rounds, when Blazer was first introduced. I was not impressed, largely because because the 158 LRN bullet would jump the crimp on about the 3rd round, when shooting it from an Airweight Chiefs. Combo of THAT ammo and the lightweight gun jus didn't work. Shot okay from 4" all steel revolvers.
I have been quite happy with Blazer 9 mm 115 gr., though.

Do not care for their 158g lead bullets. 125s or 130g jacketed stuff by others my preference for target work.
Altho dirty, 9mm Blazers run fine in my Glock 17 and K-9. Since Academy opened up across the road, Oshman's dropped price to $3.99. Bought all they had left (7 boxes) yesterday.
I do wish CCI had a similar offering in .38, preferably a jacketed 125g.

I've actually got some Blazer .38sp 125gr +p semi-jacketed hollow points on hand for the Model 60. I tend to like the stuff. It's got the exposed lead tip that expands but doesn't make a mess in the barrel. Pretty accurate and stout to boot. It cost the same as the FMJ so, what the heck, get the JHP!

I have no prob with jacketed stuff from them either.
But the round nose LEAD.....I scraped and brushed and scraped some more.
I shoot 38 for paper.
The .357 is for lions and tigers and bears.

I wunder if they use softer lead? :scrutiny:
River City had some Magtec 38 Wadcutters for a while. Those left a perfect circle in the paper targets. Cheaply too.
I need some light 38s to train my gf how to shoot HER Model 60. Meanwhile, this gluttonforpunishment likes the +Ps!!:D
If you find some, give a shout-out!

I buy it because it's cheap. It is not extremely accurate, smokes as if they used blackpowder, and leaves a sweet feeling in my throat.
For cheap ammo, I buy Remanufactured .38 Special Wadcutters in bulk from Cabela's. It is extremely accurate, and cheap.

I shot a box of Blazer lead .38's once and never again. I still use Blazer but they are always jacketed.

The only lead .38 Special Blazer load I've used is their 148 grain HBWC. This is an excellent target load in my experiece, and can come close to my own match handloads. [Speer's 148 grain HBWC is a very accurate bullet, and I've handloaded thousands of them.] I've even shot Bullseye matches with this Blazer ammo in a S&W 52-2. I've never experienced any unusual leading with this load, but it is not loaded as hot as other Blazer loads.
One thing that must be realized is that CCI ammo uses Speer bullets. Speer doesn't make cast bullets, so Blazer lead loads use Speer's soft, swaged bullets. These are excellent bullets, but as with any soft, swaged bullets, leading is a potential concern when they are driven fast. That said, I've used Speer and Hornady swaged bullets up to 1000 fps in .38 Special and .357 Mag and never experienced bad leading. YMMV.
Blazer is quality ammo. If a particular load is problematic in your gun, switch to something else.
