There is an Armscorp M1A over on ar15.com that I am bidding on but I am not sure if they are California legal. It is a good price and I really want it but I am not sure if I can. Can someone please let me know.
Thank you,
ShouShu

as long as the flash hider is not on the rifle when it comes into california then it is legal and you have to replace the flash hider with a ca legal muzzle break. and you cant have hi cap mags sent here if there are some that might come with the gun.

It needs a muzzle break, instead of the flashsuppressor/bayonet lug-and no mags over 10 rnd(unless you already have some of them nasty hi-caps)

Down at the bottom are two different "muzzle breaks". One with the flash suppresor pliars and the other without. Get one of these and you are good to go. I had to do the same thing, but my gun was already in state.

Darn it, the word is "BRAKE" as in something that slows down recoil. It does not "BREAK" the rifle.

Oh no, it is break. If you have to put one on instead of a flash suppressor, it is most certainly a break. Just kidding. Thanks for the clarification.

Is the brake really needed on an M1A? Will the rifle operate okay with no muzzle attachment whatsoever?

Only if you dont need the front sight.

Yes, the rifle will operate without a flash hider or muzzle brake installed. But like Bwana John said about the front sight...
Some Chinese M14 clones were imported with the flash hider cut off just forward of the front sight. Looked *REALLY* ugly, but it allowed them to be imported.
