Hey All,
After my first season of IDPA, I'm addicted. However, I live in North Dakota, and while this is great for having a lot of places to practice during the summer, tournaments within 2 hours of driving distance are only held once a month. My question is about adding some variety to my competing. I recently just purchased an M-4 carbine and I'm wondering if there's an IDPA-type organization and competition that exists nationally and may have competitions in my area. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate some links to national organizations, or if someone knows of any competitions like this in ND, SD, or MN that would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

I know of no practical rifle national organization comparable to IDPA.
However, Three-Gun and Multi-Gun shooting is growing in USPSA. Check them out. You'd have to get a shotgun.

My club has informal matches for carbines shooting IDPA courses generally using or adapting IDPA rules.

Check with the folks at the clubs where you shoot IDPA...we don't heavily publisize our outings.

For something more structured, your probably looking at 3-gun.

Good luck!

While I love shooting USPSA 3-Gun matches, I have had the hankering for more of an IDPA style 3-gun. Proper use of cover, transitions from long gun to pistol, etc.

You and me both!! Something we can agree on :D.

We don't do shotty's yet...even informally...we can practice with them out there...I haven't yet...so many guns, so little time ;).

Safe shooting,
