Could someone enlighten me as to what an "NRM" Colt is & how it differs from any other Colt?

I think NRM refers to "New Roll Mark" as in the less-offensive (indeed, relatively classy-looking) rollmarks of the new-manufacture colts as opposed to the previous, hideous COLT 1991A1 (or whatever) plastered across the slide of less-recent Colts pistols.
Purely cosmetic.

I hate big rollmarks, gun companies emmulating Nike plaster their name everywhere.
If everybody's gun had a big "S&W1911" or "Beretta Custom Carry" I wouldn't know how to start a conversation at the range.

But the guns referred to as 'old rollmark' and 'new rollmark' are both 1991A1s.

Apart from looking much better, the new rollmarks might be an indicator of build quality, as they came out when Colt really started making great 1911s. That said, there are plenty of old-rollmark Colts that will run all day ("combat tight" is good), but they'll do so looking, well, not as good.
