I was at Dick's Sporting goods when I spotted a Remington "870HD"

I was suprised as I thought the only full cap 870 offered by remington to the commercial market was the Marine magnum.

Anyway the price tag said $275 so I might have to go get one. That is pretty good considering the Mossberg 500 I bought from there was $250 and I think they have 590's for around $300.

These things are great deals when they pop up. They seem to show up at the larger sporting goods chains from time to time. I've seen them at Big5 at various times throughout the year.

I purchased one back in apr 2003 for just under 300 with tax from a local gunshow. Thier currently calling the 870HD the 870 synthetic on the Remington website, but its the same gun, a 18.5 barrelled, synthetic stock, +2 magazine extension 870. I like mine a lot :). Its a great deal as its not too much more than a standard express model, and if you want the shorter barrel and magazine extension you come out ahead. If your thinking about doing games and hunting Id lean towards the standard express and buy the short barrel, but for a home defense gun I like the synthetic model.

I wish they sold it with a rifled 18" barrel
