Winchester or Benelli?

I am trying to decide between a Super X2 and a Super Black Eagle. I like the Winchester better, but with all the hype about the SBE, I wonder if I am missing something. I would appreciate hearing opinions on both. Thanks

I've owned both, I've shot them both extensively on the target fields and hunting. You could not give me TWO Benelli's for my SuperX2. The SBE, mine and several others belonging to guys I hunt with, is not as reliable, recoil is worse, it does not handle the variety of loads that other guns will and it is $400 more to buy, Lose, lose, lose, and lose again in my eyes. If you just have to buy an SBE pick one up off the used rack, there are plenty of them for sale around here for $700 or so. I fell for the hype, bought one and got burned to the tune of about $400 when I sold it. I had a whale of a time selling it too.

Dont know about the SBE, but the M1014 eats everything I feed her. The fact that the M1014 is both Gas and Inertia operated makes them 2 different animals.

I was looking at these 2 plus Beretta. I brought home a Beretta 391 Extrema. I love everything about it so far. I'm going to try it on some roosters tomorrow. The Beretta Extrema will cycle everything from the lightest target loads to magnums. It's easy IMO to make a gun that will cycle the heavy stuff but to make it also feed the light stuff is impresive. This is a totally new design from the 391 urika. The piston is really cool! It's really a neat design - check it out.
BTW, I know a lot of people who have had problems with their SBE's.

For hunting or playing games?
Games, Benelli.

I'm with HSMITH.:) I have a couple of SX2 shotguns and they have been great. My field shotty will eat 7/8 oz and everything heavier. Since the Benelli is recoil operated it will kick more than the gas operated SX2.
You also get a nice leather coat for free if you buy the Winchester.:D

As one of the resident Benelli guys around here... I'd take the Super X2.
I've had very good luck with the M1-series Benellis. However, I've seen the SBE choke on target loads which it SHOULD be able to handle. Also, the recoil reduction of a gas-operated auto will be better than the Benelli.
Remember that they had to make all of those modifications to the SBE to make it feel more like a gas-operated gun. Why not get the gun that feels like what they are trying to catch up to?
I've had good reliability with mine, and they are the easiest guns to clean that I own. However, if I were spending my own money on a gun today (and 3 1/2" chambers were a requirement), it would be between the Super X2 and the Beretta 391 Extrema.

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to look good in the free leather jacket....
