I just purchased a new hunters view silver condor lite, it came with a strap to put on around the tree, this strap is not part of the safety harness and it goes right under the top cable and fastens to the stand. I have used climbers before and never had to put an extra nylon strap around the tree. What is the purpose of this, and do I need it? By the way this climber is no diffrent than any other and dont see what this strap would do

It straps around the same side of the tree that you are on, and it is to keep the top part of the stand from falling if you bump it loose from its locked in position on the tree. I and many others do without the strap, but then I don't do any gymnastics in the tree either.

Also does anyone know anything about this particular stand good or bad.

You'll know the value of that strap about the first time you put your weight on the top half and you're suddenly doing toe touchers while 20' up in a tree in the dark. Sorry ....never heard of that brand.
