I just saw it on CBS late night, and I think its a step in the right direction. How goes it?

Proposition 200 (which would deny government benefits to illegal immigrants except in cases of medical emergency) is widely believed to be readily accepted among Arizona voters.

That said, I heard on the radio that the lawyers are already gearing up to fight it in court, once it becomes law. In fact, one attorney was quoted as saying that Prop. 200 will be the best thing to happen to the Arizona Bar in many years.

I can hardly wait for the sharks to begin circling once this passes......

From everything I've read, it's likely to pass by a hefty margin; the assault lawyers, however, are already shopping around for a tame leftist extremist judge to throw out the will of the people.

We tried something similar (Prop. 187) in California a few years ago. The voters approved it by a fair margin, but it was quickly challenged and defeated in the courts. Strangely enough, the “powerful gun lobby” never seems able to similarly challenge unconstitutional gun-control legislation.

I did a search and one of the article that came up for me was from New Mexico explaining how they already had that system and it worked just fine for them.

Unfortunately, the aforesaid "powerful gun lobby" doesn't have the number of tame judges at its disposal the leftist extremists do. Too bad, eh?
