Would you trade in an HK USPc 9mm for a Kimber 9mm?

Just a passing thought. I have an HK USPc 9mm that I hardly ever shoot. It is slightly chunky in my small hands and I have subsequently found single stacks to my liking. Would you consider getting rid of the HK for a Kimber Tac Pro 9mm, or maybe even an HK 2000k model? Once again, just kicking around the idea.

I would not. Why are you questioning to do it or not?

1911s in 9mm are really fun to shoot and recoil is negligible. I have tried most of the popular high capacity 9mms and the only 9mms I own now are 1911s and Browning Hi Powers. I just didn't care for the feel of the any of the others. If you don't like the HK move it along.

Greeting's All-
T-Man my friend, I wouldn't even consider it. First, you would
most likely take a bath in losses; as the Kimber would be very
expensive. Second, with all due respect to my Kimber friends
I'm just not sure the Kimber II's are worth it? I must admit, I
have never owned (or shot) a Kimber; so I probably could be
swayed a bit.
But, your H&K USP-C 9m/m is a fine weapon its-self; although
a bit chunky in small hands. I think I would ride the waves, and
learn to master the H&K; and save $$$ in the meantime. Then
if you still want a Kimber, then go for it!
Best Wishes,

IMHO Don't sell any handgun unless it does not work reliably. Had I followed my own advice I'd be a much happier fella today ;) Seriously guns don't have that much trade in or used value (unless you get a killer deal initally) and cost a lot to replace if you decide later you should have kept it.
I kept looking for the "perfect" gun and lost my shirt trading this for that and that for this. What I found really worked was a small collection that would allow me to walk to my safe and select one depending on mood that day or "phase" I might be in for months or years at a time.
Just one more reason to keep the HK is if Kerry wins Tuesday things will change REAL fast in the gun world. Even if Bush wins one nut who should have been behind bars to begin with goes into a school and buying any pistols coud be a lost option for all of us :(
I stick a $100 or so back each month in an envelope, when it "matures" I go shopping. My options are open and all pistols safe now. I hope...

If you really do want to dump the USPc, sell it on the forum or at a gun show, trading in at a shop or selling it will usually end up at a big loss since the shops have to look at their bottom line too.
I can't see how the other HK model could fit much better since it is also a double stack, though it does have the exchangable back straps.
If you can't learn to shoot well and confortably with it, yes, it might be time to get something else.

I wouldn't give up an HK USP 9c that was reliable and accurate (which describes every one I've ever seen). The Kimbers are good guns, but the 9mm Stainless Target guns were limited production and they are WAY OVERPRICED in my opinion. A nice BHP would be a good addition to the USP 9c, but I personally wouldn't trade one for the other.

For carry guns, 1911s are among my very favorites while I have yet to buy a single USP. If I owned a USP or USPc and had decided I didn't like it, I'd trade it for a reliable Kimber in a heartbeat. But I'd definately want to make sure the Kimber was reliable with my carry ammo. And I'd probably get a 45 rather than a 9mm.

I sense that one of the biggest concerns in this discussion is the selection of the Kimber as the 1911-pattern 9mm choice. Why not make it a Springfield or a Colt? How does that change the dynamics of the concerns?
On a slightly different tack - since you're talking about trading a pistol that you don't really fit well to get a pistol that you like better - what's there to question? The best-made and best-fitting firearm in the eyes and experience of someone else doesn't do YOU a darn lick of good if you can't use that firearm effectively.
Life's to short to 'learn to like it'. Find what fits your hand and your intended usage, buy multiple copies of 'em, and train with them regularly. I guarantee that you'll be many steps ahead of most other folks.

Never understood the impulse for a 9mm 1911 myself. The 1911 belongs in .45 to me. I guess I'm just a hipower guy in 9mm.

I'd probably try selling or trading it private party before taking it to a dealer. They have to pay for overhead so you won't get as much $ from a dealer. Personally I like the USPs but since you aren't shooting it, I don't see much point in holding on to it.

Thanks everybody!
I was thinking about going from 1 type 9mm to another. I already have an STI trojan 5.0 in 9mm, excellent weapon/accurate/soft recoil (almost like shooting a 22lr). Kinda crazy, but I already had 7 handguns and I didn't want any more (not enough room in my small safe). I do like the USP 9c but if I was going to get a commander sized pistol, I wanted to keep the number around 7. I guess I just need a larger safe.......:p

No way 9mm 1911 is not the same as .45 1911. Keep your USP and buy .45 1911.

I find that trades are rarely truly equal without some cash thrown in on one side or the other.
If you really want a Kimber, sell the HK then go shopping for a Kimber.
I have owned Kimbers and they are fine guns, however, an HK (I have a USP.45 compact) are world class pistols and are worth far more.
Have you tried on a Hi Power in the classic or the compact form?? They are sweet and point so nicely.
So many guns so little time!

no! and further more any 1911 chambered in anyother caliber other than 45ACP is blasphemy and the perp should be punished most severly

I vote no too! a 1911 chambered in short cartridges like 9mm and .40 cal is a real she dog to feed reliably!

In half a heartbeat.
I've got 800+ so far through a new SA 9mm 1911 without a hitch. Just had to dump that stupid ILS to make the trigger better. Recoil is almost nothing. 9mm can work in 1911s. I wish I coulda got a STI Trojan 9mm to go along with the Trojan .45, but they're not for sale in Kali.

If I owned a Kahr, maybe things would be different, but my USPC has functioned flawlessly through thousands of rounds of ammunition in all kinds of conditions. It has never had any failure of any kind, ever. I have complete faith in the USP and it fits my other needs as well (concealability, capacity, etc) so I see no need to go for the unknown.

Don't do it!
The Kimber isn't going to have the capacity needed in a defensive pistol. Even if it doesn't serve as a defense gun, who wants to reload that often while at the range.
The USP is superior in every way.

If you hardly shoot it, it's a useless paper weight. Your money, your enjoyment. Get something you'll use. Trade away!!

Well, my CCW would be my P7M8, followed by the USPc 9mm. I already have my 1911's in .45 (Valtro), 9mm (Trojan), and 10mm (Delta elite). The Valtro and Trojan are very reliable, but the Delta Elite has been very UNreliable (gotta get it looked at). Best fit has been the single stacks for me, but I felt the 1911's and the perhaps the HK P2000 were a very good fit. I agree, the USPc is a very excellent gun.

' tried hollowpoints on it? short ones like Corbon 115gr? Mine chokes on those big time. The H&K just gobble them up w/ no problem.
