Hey all,

I am in need of the requirements/specifications of MIL-SPEC handgun and rifle barrels. I do know that they need to be able handle higher peak pressures than SAMMI requires but are there any other specifications and requirements such as tighter bores, chambers etc???

Thanks in advance

TS

There are a LOT of "MIL-SPEC" requirements. For example, my M1 Garand has an "M" on the barrel indicated it had been magnafluxed, which was a requirement at the time. The Bushmaster website goes into some detail about the difference between a "MIL-SPEC" chamber for 5.56mm ammo and a commercial chamber for .223 Remington . . . they're "almost" the same, but have some important differences.
