So, I finally decided

So, I discovered a new gun store that was hiding from me about 20 mins away from my house. They have lots of Saiga's in stock, minus the .308

7.62 is $210
.223 is $240

Which would you buy? Both intermediate cartidges. More recoil is probably better. More fun to shoot, as far as this goes. The advantage that the 7.62 holds is that it is available in a 20 in barrel, which I will get if I get the 7.62

Which would you get and why?

Cheaper ammo is good.

Well....from what you just said.....sounds like the 7.62x39 is perfect for you. More recoil (not sure why you WANT more...but whatever), cheaper ammo, and available in 20" barrel length. Meets all your criteria.

As far as fun goes, I have AK's in both 7.62x39 and .223 and both are equally fun. :)

Get the 7.62x39 it is way cheaper and more powerful. All my armor will stop a .223 but none will stop a 7.62x39. In Iraq they some soldiers are picking up AKs because the .223 doesn't always stop enemys from shooting back.
