A short turkey and pigeon season is getting ready to open in Monterey County Calif. I just got a new (to me ) Browning BSS 12ga SXS mod &full that I can't wait to try with 1oz loads. I'll also bring some 1 1/8th 6's for the high fliers later in the morning. I'll also bring my .410 Citori in case they are too easy! 2 pigeons a day-but my friends don't eat them!:D Now on the turkeys I'm torn between using my 30" 10ga BPS with a yet unused full tube and 2 oz #4 shot OR my 1100mag with 30" barrell and 3" 12ga #2 shot. The turkey shots are usually 30-50 yards. What ya think?:D

I use a 12 guage 3" #5 shot with an X-Full choke.

It is esential that you buy different manufactured loads and pattern your shotgun before you go Turkey hunting.

If you cant get any closer than 30-50 yds then go with the 10 guage.

Camo is a must.

Movement can be detected by them turkeys at long distances. Very good eyesight on them buggers.

I absolutely love Turkey hunting. A very fun, rewarding sport.

BTW, still interested in them 10 Guage turkey loads I have?

I use the Win Pigeon Loads and most often Mod choke.

I will also reload the Pigeon Load ( spec's) with #5 hard shot. I really like #5 shot.

Depending on the Pigeons "attitude", I load up the factory ( or reload equiv) of # 7.5 shot and if "need" the next shell up is the #5 .

Sometimes critters don't read the memos and gun forums and don't know they are suppposed to "fell". They need a little "selective coaching". ;)
