'Long Island Lolita' Amy Fisher has new love: gun control

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Amy Fisher, the pistol-packin’ Long Islander who set off a frenzy of tabloid headlines a decade ago when she shot her lover’s wife, celebrated the end of her parole on Wednesday by announcing her intention to work for causes aimed at keeping handguns away from minors.
“I committed a terrible crime when I was only 16 years old,” Fisher writes in the Long Island Press, a free weekly where she has worked as a columnist since last summer. “Today I am 28, a mother and almost a stranger to that teenage girl who became known around the world as the 'Long Island Lolita.”’

Fisher was released from prison in 1999 after serving seven years for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the head during a confrontation outside Buttafuoco’s Massapequa home. Fisher was having an affair with Buttafuoco’s auto mechanic husband at the time.

The Buttafuocos have since moved to California.

Now the mother of a 2-year-old boy, Fisher says she has worked to turn her life around.

“I am in a committed relationship. I have held responsible jobs, and have done my jobs well. I returned to school and received my college degree. I am now a newspaper columnist, and I am thoroughly fulfilled by my work,” she writes. “I am the person I always should have been, except for a brief but total, unfathomable lapse of judgment in my youth.”

She referred to herself as one “of a select group of people who know firsthand the pain that is caused when minors get hold of guns.” Although she was not specific, Fisher said because of that, “I am looking forward to devoting my time and energy to as many organizations as I can that are trying to keep guns out of the hands of minors.”

Fisher, who has communicated about her ordeal solely through her column, also hinted that could change.

“I will talk,” she says of media inquiries. “I will tell my story, because now I know how it can help impact others for good. Just give me a couple of months to keep piecing my life back together.”

So Amy Fisher, a minor who had an illegal sexual relationship with a married adult, who illegally acquired a fiream and who illegally shot the wife of her adulterous lover in an attempt to murder her, is innocent.

It's the Guns fault!

Uh, Amy...how 'bout a column that addresses:

Actions have consequences!

You still don't understand that the fault lies with you, not some inanimate object under your control. It seems you haven't learned a thing. Despite the fact that you keep having birthdays, you are still willing to be a 'useful idiot'.

Until you get your act together, why not consider marrying the father of your child? That would be an excellent start...

Leftist extremist so-called "gun control" is a criminal's best friend—and some criminals reciprocate the feelings.

Why is it that every high-profile killer seems to want to make a profit from talking about their killings in exchange for money from the "no-violence" crowd?

Why I love guns, reason number 7897234:

Because Amy Fisher is against it!!

If that isn't a good reason, nothing is..

Amy against guns is like Kate Moss against bulimia..

Hmmmmm. Amy, honey, since evrything you did was already illegal (that means 'against the LAW'), what on Earth makes you think that another law for you to ignore, would make any difference????:fire:

Amy, you don't need no gun control, you need SELF CONTROL!
