I am wanting to get a 625 5" and having the lug cut off like I have done to my 586 and I was wondering if anybody has done this. I know John Ross has de-lugged a 500 but has anybody done it to a 625.

In my earlier thread about 625's someone showed a picture of one with a clark conversion to 460 rowland.

THR gets me thinking too much.....:banghead:

Gee, I would not "delug" the gun. That extra mass out front will assist in keeping the muzzel rise down on recoil. But, then I like the looks of a full lugg gun. I believe you could find a mountain version with an 1/2 lugg, and not modify your existing 625.

I agree. Buy the 625 Mountain Gun that already has the half lug. :D

It's nothing that a bench grinder and a whole lot of polishing can't handle. If done carefully with an eye toward details it would be a lot cheaper than buying a gun. Plus you will end up with a unique personalized custom model.
If you don't like the end result you can always rebarrel it.

Did my 610 with a belt sander then polishing wheels. Took off the crappy laser engraving on the barrel too.

Rangie:
You really did a great job on the 610!
I don't think I could bring myself to do that to one of mine though.

I would much rather buy an extra barrel.
