I have an opportunity to purchase a Chinese SKS w/blade bayonet. The rifle is in very good+ to excellent shape. Serial number is 90603XX.

Asking is $180 w/stripper clips. Just wandering if this a great price and/or if I should haggle with him.

Thanks

Sounds like too much for an SKS. I thought you could pick up the Yugo's for just a little over 100.

$180.00 is pretty much low to the norm /

it is tri 26 ( 26 inside the triangle /left side of reciever) followed by 3 chinese characters /

all matching?/

sling mount on butt stock side mounted , bottom of stock? /

on the rear site leaf what numeral is there? (3 / U /M / backwards 3 )?

Most chinese sks run from 150 to 235
so if yours is all matching I would try to haggle but $180.00 is no real deal but not a rip either.

Numbers are all matching. Don't know what is on the rear sight.

The triangle, if I remember right, had a large triangle with a bunch of smaller ones inside with 3 characters behind it.

The sling mount is mounted on the side of the butt stock.

Here are some pics.

Also, these are not C&R - correct? Too lazy to drag out the big book.

Haggle if the seller comes down great, but $180.00 is not a bad price

If you check most auction sights these are going for 200.00 plus

The triangle should have numbers inside it, they do look like smaller triangles bot are numbers shaped to the triangle.

but the most telling tail is the side mount rear sling / are the numbers on butt stock matching to the rest of rifle,
The side mount rear sling only happen for a few runs, then they went back to bottom of butt stock . some believe the side mount is of military issue, if the numbers inside triangle is 26 then you got nice one :)

None of the Chinese sks are C&R

In the DFW area, a decent Chinese SKS will go for $200 to $250 dollars, and $180 would be a good deal.

The stock numbers match as well.

This may not be of any help but...
Before that awful AWB Norinco SKSs could be had for $79.95 at the store I went to in Pinellas Park FLA. I do not know much about Chinese mil-surp rifles. As stated above some unissued ones from East Europe can be had for less money and they are just as good if not of better quality.

AWB had nothing to do with the Chinese SKS / Bush senior ban the imports of chinese arms for human rights violation / that is why the Chinese sks are not C&R .

But the chinese sks are of very nice quality and collectors love em,

so many guns and so little money :(

Thanks for all the info.

I already have an inexpensive Albanian SKS but was looking at the collector value of the Chinese (especially if this was a rare find). I'm just not fully versed on the history and values of all the SKS variants.

Thanks again!

steelhead go here and ask: http://www.sksboards.com/forum/. It seems to me that chinese sks's with the blade bayos are more rare. Most of the ones I've seen have the spike bayos. Mark
