For anyone who carries a small SW .39 Special. How do you carry? I am looking for an IWB. I don't care for pocket carry for several reasons so I would like something on teh belt preferably IWB but I carry OWB often enough that I am also comfortable with this.

I have a Don Hume IWB that works well enough, but I much prefer pocket carry in an Uncle Mikes.

When carrying my old model (2" barrel, .38 Special) S&W model 60, I do
so in an old $6.00 John Bianchi IWB holster. I've used one for about 30
years, without any problems; and I feel sure that it would work as well
with a S&W 642.

You may want to check out High Noon Holsters:

They are relatively inexpensive and they stock a few of their models on the shelves. I picked up a Hidden Ally for my 642. I am quite pleased with it for the price.

After buying several leather IWB holsters...I ended up going back to a cheapo Uncle Mikes nylon/foam model. It grips the gun securely enough, doesn't move in my pants, and is FAR more comfortable than the thicker leather models I've tried.

I'm with Atticus on this one. Leather's nice OWB, but not so much when you go IWB. The only drawback to the cheapo nylons is in reholstering, but this is only a factor when practicing at the range. Day to day CCW its not an issue.

I've tried 3 different Uncle Mikes IWB holsters for my Model 60 357 Mag. The following holster by "Hunter" has been the best I have found! It's suede with a heavy duty dark metal clip and holds extremely well. The nice part is that it molds to your gun as you wear it and becomes a perfect custom holster, so to speak. You can buy them at Oshmans Sporting goods for 13 bucks if you have them in your area. BTW, they make some other pretty nice holsters and very nice pocket holster too.
