Have the Martians kidnapped me?
It was on Channel 3 out of Philly, a commercial for a sporting goods store whose name I forget. The first scene had some long guns in the background, so I thought it was just an accident.
Then the voice-over starts going on about guns, and even mentions that they sell H*NDG*NS! Shock horror!
And then there were scenes of targets, and a woman shooting what might have been a Kahr on an indoor range...
I thought the PRNJ Disarmed Victim Field would block all such TV signals! Please let me know that I'm OK and that I can take off the tinfoil!

I bet is was for Bob's Little Sportshop in Glassboro. I've seen a commercial for them before like the one you describe. I guess they need to advertise since after you've been there a couple times you've been turned off or offended by their high prices, lack of inventory, insane rules of using THEIR ammo on their indoor range, or poor service.

Coupla thoughts on Bob's "We don't sell holsters, civilians don't need them" Little sport shop:
I've never seen an AR, or any other politically incorrect rifle type at Bobs and
Bob is on the NRA Board of Directors.

Last time I was there he had ONE.....maybe two AR's. It was when I was looking to buy a Beretta Storm and to my surprise he actually had one in stock. His asking price.......$675 with only 1 mag. I said bye bye and went on down to Hague's where I got a Storm for $595 with 2 mags.
Everytime I've been in Bob's I've been treated like I was bothering them and god forbid I ask about something that isn't a hunting rifle or shotgun I get looks like I'm a nutcase. :banghead:

The only commercial I have seen on TV is when I go into Ammu-Nation in Grand Theft Auto... ;)
"Check out our specials on Anti-Aircraft guns!"

Hey, even if he's no businessman, he's at least running the commercials. And if it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he was high-visibility for our side in the "smart" gun fracas.
However, it'd be better for someone who's prominent to also be someone who wins.

About 3 weeks into having cable at my current apartment, I saw an ad for one of the local pawn shops on TV one night when I was up late. I was kinda shocked. The dude did the whole ad standing right in front of the giant "GLOCK" sign and saying how they bought and sold guns. I went to bed with a smile like this on my face: :D

Frontier Firearms, Predator Custom, and Guns & More all have spots on local TeeVee. I've tried getting my boss to splurge on a 30 second spot on the the local Fox affiliate with no joy. :banghead:

Our local UPN channel has about 4 hours of "outdoor" programing every Sunday. The local fishing, archery and gun dealers take advantage of the attentive audience. There are also ads fo T/C, S&W, Federal, Remington et al.
With a 1/4 million person army ready to deploy Monday in pursuit of whitetails, MI isn't an all bad place to live. Now if we could only get rid of that big blue cancer in the SE corner of the state :D

Remington, Thompson Center, and a local shop called the Gunroom. Of course the two previous are usually sponsoring hunting shows. Maybe we're a little more hickish up here in OR but it's not unusual. Course it's not the norm either.

Here in San Diego, one of the local gunshops (American Shooting Center) has a radio spot on FM 103.7 which airs in the morning when they broadcast The Howard Stern Show.
Now you have to remember San Diego and Orange counties, respecitively, are the only red counties with major populations in a very blue state.
