I have a couple of Colts that I would like to know how many were made. I called Colt and they dont have production numbers on their own revolvers.
Thanks.

It depends on what mdels you have. Prior to around 1978 a number of sourcebooks have the numbers - both totals on discontinued revolvers and year-by-year totals with serial number ranges. After '78 the company has seemed to withhold this information, although I understand that if you give them a particular serial number and model Colt's Customer Service will tell you when it was made. What they really want to do is sell you more detailed information about your gun(s) in a letter that costs over $100.00 per pop.

I have a book called Colt's Dates of Manufacture which details how many, what year etc. Drop me a PM or an e-mail and I'll look them up.
