I am looking into a nice, large backpack with some sort of compartment externally (at least) for a longarm like this:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/horizontal-item.jhtml?id=0027273516485a&navAction=push&navCount=4&indexId=cat20770&podId=0027273&catalogCode=XE&parentId=cat20770&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fitem-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712&hasJS=true

Or one similar to it.
I am seeking opinions on brands, comfort, durability and waterproofing effectiveness, etc- anything: a product review.

I intend it to be an all-around pack: too much for a day trip but still the one I take, and good for somewhat extended hikes like about a couple days.
Please share, recommend, warn, etc!
Thanks,
C-

I bought a $30 Fieldline camo backpack at Walmart. It is the zip-off waistpack model. It has a a zippered pouch on the bottom of the waistpack which looks like it could hold a rifle butt and a spot on top that looks like it could hold a barrel. I have not yet tried the rifle holder since I still hunt and hold my rifle the whole time, but it's worked OK for a weekend as a backpack.

Probably not as nice as the $200 Cabela's model, and there is no internal or external frame.

I'm not expecting too much for $30, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
