GP100 Reassembly problem

I have dis- and reassembled my GP100 several times with no trouble, but I am now having a problem installing the trigger guard assembly.

I can get the unit to snap into the frame, but the trigger won't funtion to rotate the cyclinder, as it should at that stage of reassembly. It is as if the trigger gets locked once installed, though on some installation attempts it will pull back freely but not engage anything.

I can't figure out if I did something to the trigger unit to mess up the unit itself or if I am somehow not installing it correctly.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Did you disassemble the trigger group?

Are you sure you got all the parts back in correctly?

It almost sounds like one of the tiny spring/plunger assemblies is missing.

Will the cylinder rotate without the trigger group installed?

The only pitfall I've run across when snapping the trigger group back in is that the transfer bar can get stuck behind the cylinder latch assembly. But that prevents the group from fitting in all the way. You can get it into an odd bind if you try to install the trigger assembly without the cylinder in place also--again not likely to be your problem.

I actually did that first, realized the mistake and then encountered the current problem. Maybe my first goof is related to the current problem.

That's what happened!

The plunger/spring set under the pawl flew out. I never saw it happen. I found them (finally) under the dining room table in the next room, about 25 feet from where I was cleaning the gun.

Once I snapped the AWOL parts back in, everything worked fine.

Thanks for the tip.
