Has anybody seen any mention of how the dems would have reached out if Kerry had won? I'm asking, not because I think that they should have (if the situation were reversed), but because I'm wondering what they would be willing to give up from among their strongly held (or not so strong) beliefs.

What are the things that they'd give up in order to unify the country?

To the Dems reaching out means to come to their point of view. That is not going to happen. At least it better not if the mid term elections are not to be a disaster for the Rep.

The last line says it all:

"Michael Hill writes for The Baltimore Sun"

I read an editorial piece the other day that suggested that GW might reach out to the other party by nominating a Democrat for the Supreme Court.

Sort of like suggesting we should have tried to "reach out" to WWII Germany by giving Herman Goering supervision over the Normandy invasion.

Though there are clearly opportunities in this political season for President Bush to move to the center, there is little likelihood that that will happen.

I'd like to see Bush move closer to the center, too.

Of course, that would mean him moving away from the Democrats.

Ditto that, M1991Owner! George W. Bush may be the man I voted for twice, but he could move towards the center. Move towards the center away from the Leftist spending policies of Medicaid and prescription drug give aways. Get away from the Leftist open boarder approach to immigration. Get away from the Leftist obsession with the United Nations. Get away from the Leftist fear of guns. Move towards the center Mr. President!

President Bush has already done far too much "reaching out" IMO.

Re-education camps, I suppose. :(

A small, in fact very small, newspaper in the Bay Area re-prints a liberal moan published in an Eastern paper and the header on this thread suggests that all CA is mourning the Bush win.

My county had an 86% turnout of all registered voters. Of the votes cast over 80% were for Bush. CA came within barely over a million votes of overturning the Blues and turning the state, with 52 electoral votes, into a Red state! We'll make it, someday!

After all, we re-called a liberal Democrat governor and put in a Republican.

Bush has repeatedly reached out to the dems only to have his hand slapped.

It's pretty obvious that this columist is so far out in left field that they don't realize that Bush is appealing to the moderates in both parties.

This person is so in denial that they're still spouting crap about Bush being selected by the Supreme Court, when it's been proven over and over again that he won the election. The Supreme Court ruling merely ended Gore's attempts to recount the votes until somehow the results said he won.

If was Gore who sued to attempt to change the election results, not Bush.

The facts don't appear to concern this person. They aren't trying to encourage Bush to "reach out". They're trying to stir up anger amongst democrats who are misinformed to build back up support for the Bush haters that lost their steam after another election defeat.

They deserve nothing but contempt; they've obstructed and fillibustered to no end. I hope that they will soon be departing for Canada or some other socialist utopia in Europe.
