Just grabbed a mint condition Colt Trooper Mark III at a pawn shop for $190! Most I've seen *start* at $300. I'm not too jazzed about the big trigger or the big stock, but what the heck if I sell it I'm ahead of the game for once. Looks like it will be a tack driver, too.

:D

4" or 6" bbl.?

Not that it matters, but the only decent gun I've seen under $200 this past year was a 3&1/2" Charter Pathfinder 22 for $150. I bagged that going out the door from another gun purchase.

The Mark III is not my favorite Colt ( prefer the earlier "357" and "Trooper" ) but it's head and shoulders above ANY S&W made today. Just my humble opinion.

I would make sure that gun either got shot until you dropped, or got stashed away with maybe 500 rounds of factory magnum ammo of your choice.

Ten or more years back I had 10+ 38 spl.s. That's because I bought every gun in good enough shape that I could get for under $150. There is no way you could buy anything that would justify selling that gun. IMHO

Do they have any more?

The Mark III Trooper was a strong revolver, the trigger and finish are not as nice as a Python, but they are usually very accurate revolvers. How about a range report?

Actually, some Mark IIIs had finishes and actions every bit as impressive as Pythons'. I think they were flukes, but they weren't even rare.

You have an excellent revolver, and I'd say you stole it (from a pawn shop yet).

Don't worry about the big stocks. Smaller ones are available and all you need to make the switch is a screwdriver. :D
