Or "My Poor Guns!" :)

Following Cookie's example in THIS (http://www.1911forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95146) thread, I decided to take my Mil-Spec and install a Smith & Alexander Grip Safety , a Cylinder & Slide Tactical Match Trigger Pull Set, Wilson Long Ultra Light Match Trigger and Ed Brown allen head grip screws. I've had to be at a hospital to visit a relative frequently, so this job was done over several days. When I got the grip safety and trigger fitted the old thumb safety wouldn't go in, so I ordered some Cratex bits and 2 Wilson extended thumb safeties, one narrow and one wide. The wide one looks funky but feels great so I fitted it in, then had problems with the barrel hood hitting the slide and causing it not to return to battery. I thought the culprit would be the sear spring blocking the disconnector, but finally found that the recoil spring was kinked and ordered a couple new ones along with an extended slide stop to put in. When it's done and the VZ grips get here I'll post pics.

Meanwhile today I stripped my Colt NRM and tried to do my first trigger job on it since it has a 6# pull. I was so timid about stoning and bending the sear spring that when I got done the pull was.... 6# still. I bent the left arm of the sear spring slightly 2 more times and the trigger pull finally went down to 5 1/4# and I left it there for now. At least it's clean and crisp - I did use a trigger track stone on all the trigger tracks. Then I had the Wilson narrow extended thumb safety left over so I fitted it in, and did a much better job than the first one the night before.

I love this working on guns - very addicting! :D

Here's the NRM with the new thumb safety, polished feed ramp and barrel ramp and slightly better trigger pull. :p
