They are pronounced "Uu-shi". Just ask John Kerry.

Vector Arms makes the U.S produced Uzi clones. Nice... in both full auto, semi auto models, and if you pay the $200 short barreled rifle fee and do the paper work, you can get a semi-auto short barrel (standard look) Uzi. Those run around $1,000-2000, full autos, much more I think.

Me, I can't afford that, so a Keltec Sub-2000 for $300 is probably in my future. I have, however, shot full auto Uzis, suppressed and unsuppressed, and a Mini Uzi. :D

My local dealer here in Milwaukee actually go two in recently (much to my surprise). They are in the $2k range. I would think he could do a FFL to FFL transfer. Let me know if you want more info.

Vector's website says $595 + Shipping for a 16" barrel semi. (plus your FFL's transfer fee, hopefully $20-$30)

I hear they are very nice but haven't seen/shot one.

I had an UZI(pistol), until I traded it straight across for a NIB Colt Woodsman.

UZI's are fine full auto weapons, but complete garbage in semi-auto only format. The pistol anyway. Maybe you can hold the carbine a bit more steady during firing.

The striker mechanism is massive, and makes for a forward clunker, everytime you pull the trigger. Thus, I think the gun's value is all in it's "coolness" or "taboo" factor. I'm not that kind of guy. I want a gun that works well for it's intended purpose in its current form. If my UZI had been a full auto, it probably would have been awesome.

I still wish I had the gun, but I doubt if I would be shooting it much. Maybe if I had a testosterone overdose and needed to act like a redneck.

I have an original IMI Uzi Model B 9mm carbine. They are cool, fun to shoot, and accurate as heck. Mine has, for the most part, become a safe queen. I had it out a couple weeks ago only because a buddy wanted to give her a try. Prior to that I'll bet it has been 3 - 4 years since it saw the light of day. I've even considered selling it a few times but never got around to it.

If you look around at gun shows and on the net they can be found, usually in the $1,000+ range from what I've seen. As someone else said, Vector Arms makes an American version if you don't have to have the original. The IMI's were banned from importation under the 1989 law.

and when you get that uzi...are you gonna let us shoot it too or hoard that toy all for yourself?

bet it might be challanging to take on a groundhog hunt :)vector does make a good uzi,Ive heard alot of great reviews and the one that I shot at an range last may worked just perfectly,it had a fake can on it to cover the 16" barrel.

I almost traded a guy for a chineese copy..am glad I didnt.

I've had this one more years than I can remember.
It's fun. :)
They show up at the gun shows once on a while.

Something else that you can get for the same price or less.
Also fun shooting.

I bought this one back in 1985. If you do get one, register it as a SBR and chop off that barrel. :)
