Yes, but he's a product of his environment which is the opposite of the DNC type of Democrat in Washington. The catch 22 is that he wouldn't win outside of his own territory because the bi-coastal libs wouldn't let him in the door. A lot of them have never really had to work hard for anything they've gotten and they expect the government to regulate everything and take care of every problem they are confronted with. This guy seems to believe in fairness and common sense but knows that anything good that's worth having doesn't come easy. What it comes down to is the basic Eastern philosophy of life versus the Western distrust of people that come from the east of the Miss. River.

They called him "populist" about 3 times in the article; populist is newspeak for "marxist." :uhoh: The guy obviously masqueraded as something he's not, or he's actually a repub that ran against the established hierarchy and will switch parties now that W has consolidated his slaughter of the democrat party. I find that there are a lot of electable Democrats in the "Red" states. Here in KY, I have no problem voting for Democrats IF they are the right person for the job.

The issue is just what was said above, the coastal Dems now run the party and they simply just don't like any hick that disagrees with their extremism. Any "practical" politician from the flyover wasteland is only as important to them as the number of votes they bring out of blind party loyalty.

Here in KY, an entrenched Republican encumbent senator was almost knocked off by a conservative Democrat state rep. I think, as a whole, the voters liked the Democrat better but only voted for the Republican just to show their dislike of the national Democrat party. If that dislike wasn't there, I think the Democrat would have spanked the Republican by at least 10 percentage points.

I suspect that the Democratic party will have to quit kissing the rectal eye of the liberal elite on either coast or it will die.
