I'm interested in a Ruger Single Six .32 Magnum revolver. I'm not talking about the "Baby Vaquero', I'm interested in the Single Six Ruger discontinued in 1997.

I have a few questions concerning this gun & ammo if I may.

What barrel lengths was this revolver available in?
How much is a good used one worth?

Is .32 Magnum ammo hard to come by?

I'm a varmit hunter (mainly Coyotes) and plan on using the Ruger .32 Magnum for that purpose. Does it pack enough punch to down a Coyote with one shot?

Won"t comment on the older version of the 32 mag SS as I have the current one. I will comment on the cartridge which is not the most commonly available (although most well stocked gun stores have it in my neck of the woods). It is made by Federal and Black Hills and is relatively expensive compared to something like 38 special and 9mm. I consider it more of a reloaders cartridge, especially if you want to get the most out of it.

Never shot a coyote, but they seem to have a reputation for toughness. I'd rather use something bigger like a 38 special loaded hot. The 32 mag has ME figures approaching the 38 but that's due more to velocity than bullet weight. I prefer heavy bullets for penetration. In fact I bet there are people out there that will recommend hotter cartridges than the 38, either the .357 or 44 mag.
