hi

Is SW99 officially issued with any US Police dept? If yes, in what caliber(s)? It it popular among cops? Or among civilian users?

Thanks

hi,
Some state police (N. Jersey?) switched to SW99 from HK P7M8 in the last years. (The move was opposed by officers)

Not a vise move IMHO.

And they had many reliability problmes with the SW99 and as I remember, they issued SIGs later.

Word is that the Charlotte-Meclenburg Police here are going to SW99 in .40 to replace their aging SW steel frame .40s. Have been hearing about it, but haven't seen any yet. Also rumor was they wanted either DAO or something similar to the Walther "Quick Action", not DA/SA. Their current Smiths are DAO. And heavy. I think the whole story was that Smith gave them some great deal to avoid them switching to Glocks.
